Recommended insurance companies for used boats?

What insurance companies are recommended to go with, with used boats?

I just use the same provider as my home and auto. I have an older boat so just carry liability.

I've been happy with BoatUs. Only cavet is they don't like to insure the trailer for replacement cost, just agreed amount. The only problem with that is, how many used trailers are you going to find when you need it?

I initially tried using my auto and home insurance company. The quote seemed high so I checked Ski-Safe... their price was significantly better and that was before the Planet Nautique discount.

My provider is getting out of the boat insurance biz; they had recommended Progressive. Anyone with experience w/ them?

Expensive and going up. Also wind storm coverage is there but price and deductible going up and coverage going down. Also rules on where the boat is located during named storm.

There is also that crazy lawsuit deal on the thread Gride put up.

last month, I paid the "min" instead of the entire year and next month when I get back to the u.s. I'm going to start shopping starting with geico.

also. I think "lnvspeed" or "lvnspeed" or somebody else had major problems with State Farm covering a boat that was stolen/then sunk.

I hate state farm....there is a state farm agent with a 210 in my area...but I'm not going with state farm for anything.

I am with allstate. I trust my agent so i just the boat with the umbrella, home, and auto as well. I am probably over paying but when i got quote from others it was probably only like $60 or $70 over pay per year...Of course my agent would say allstate coverage is better....

I have had a good premium through them the last three-four years. I was so turned off by Ski Safe for nearly doubling my premium after almost 20 claim free years, and their inability to even talk about a slightly lower premium. I know they are a site sponsor and I commend them for that, but i was very turned off. It's hard to trust any insurance company these days.

Only one place for boat insurance in my mind -- "Ski Safe"

My home, auto etc. insurer cant come close to ski safe's prices.

                          CCS,

Glad you like it. I am thinking of changing....Can you tell a bit more? Have you had a claim? How was it handled.

I use a broker, Voyager Marine. They recently put me back with ACE and saved me $100 per year. Paying $190 for an agreed value policy currently.
