Recommended insurance companies for used boats?

I'm in the auto collision industry and deal with insurance company's daily. Your best bet is to negotiate the COVERAGE you need with your auto or home insurance company. If they can't help you I use Progressive on my boats. I had one claim years ago in a go fast boat and they just paid me to replace the boat. I usually switch boats every year or so and Progressive can have you a policy done in about 5 mins over the phone. If you sell the boat they just send you a check quickly. You can tell that policy retention is important to them. Id say that the service is great. Have never looked into ski safe but the big thing is to compare the COVERAGE!!! Not the cost of the policy. Apples to apples.

I should have mentioned above that in spite of saving $100 per year on my policy, I raised my agreed value by $1,000 and all other coverage is the same or better than Progressive. I never had a claim with them. So I can't speak to that personally. But there was another thread on here recently specifically concerning Progressive that caused me to explore my options. I'm glad I did. That's not to say that everyone's experience will be the same. I am glad you have had good experiences with them.

I can't recommend Voyager enough. I handled the most recent switch almost entirely by email with a quick phone call (to a direct extension) for a question about the coverage.

i'd use skisafe unless you live in a named storm area. the only reason i did not go w/ them over progressive or geico(who i have now) is b/c of the no named storm coverage. skisafe is very knowledgeable about our style boats and great to work with also.

I use Global Marine as the agent and the insurance is written through Travelers. I had Ski Safe for years until I had to tow my boat away in a hurricane evacuation. That was just one more thing to worry about. The first thing I did when I got back home was change insurance that included named storm coverage. It actually was the same cost as Ski Safe.
