Super Air 210 Engine/Trunk Lid ideas- No Upholstery?

Anyone ever take the upholstery/foam off the lids and do something cool? Maybe just the engine cover to make center walk-thru? I like the 210's, hate walking on the upholstery... Just looking for cool ideas. Thanks!

I'm debating doing something similar this winter since I'm redoing the vinyl anyway. I would definitely use the new material compared to the old black SANO feet scorcher. The way it's done in your pic is probably cheapest way. I am thinking of doing a medium sized cutout down the engine hatch, maybe with a Velcro filler for ladies.

I saw a nice option on a Supra that I liked. YOu opened one of the trunk lids and there is a walkway under the cushion. Of course, that walkway can be lifted to get to storage. I would be interested in that idea; if anyone has seen it or has any idea on how to do it, I'd be interested.

hope some cool ideas are posted! I want to do the same thing on my 220 - replace cushion with seadek. My dealer and nautique corp told me that I would need to rebuild the panel if I removed the cushions because it is not finished underneath...

I found a pic of what I was referring to. Supra refers to it as Sundeck Stepway.

It's on this page if you click the red dot at the transom of the boat.

I like it...Wonder how we would do that? And not have to monkey with it to raise and lower the door. Plus we have to turn the lock...

The $ to add that or change the upholstery is probably going to be more than recovering a section. Maybe try to train folks to only walk on one side of the engine or just the engine.

I was just out there switching the battery and took a look...Easiest thing is to make an insert that stores right in the compartment, then you open slide into place and your good to go. It would have place to sit on all 4 sides, but you would have to make a slot for the piston arm. On the one hand it would be nice to not have to step on vinly. On other hand I am unsure I would want to open everytime someone walks by. Or if someone thinks the cushion is secure and falls on it it would shut and not support them...i don't know...interesting though.

I try to talk on either side on the deck but most won't. It takes a bit being careful.

What about something you take out and just put on top of the vinyl to kind of disperse the weight? probably would trip on it...
