I have an 05 SAN. I'm considering FAE but, I have a few questions. How does that tip not act as a tracking fin and make it harder to steer at higher speeds? In high speed turns (rare for me), what happens if the hose between the boat and the pipe become disconnected? Could water get into my engine? Will I lose the pipe? Last but not least, is there any other support bracket available that doesn't look like my 9th grader's first project in metal shop?

IMO opinion Waste of money. I have riden in several boats with them and can't tell a difference. Maybe a little in the Tige's I have ridden in.

I will say the wake is different at higher speeds, but Wake boats rarely go over 30 MPH.

I only Nautique I think this would help is SN 90-96 and Sport Nautique 93-97 were I think the exhaust comes up the back into the boat if sitting in the back seats. I believe the way the back is shaped causes this.

You will lose about 3-4 MPH top end, not that it matters to most.

Isn't everything a waste of money? Your whole boat is a waste of money.

Anyway I'm entirely convinced its the absolute best money you can spend on your boat. Don't have a clue as to how crad couldn't tell the difference??? Seriously the smell will be cut down to zero both for those surfing and riding in the boat.
The other thing is it significantly lowers the exhaust noise in the boat as well as behind the boat. Everyone that has been in and behind my boat has told me how much quieter it is than ANYTHING they have been in. Granted our nautiques aren't that noisy to begin with but you will notice the difference.

Now as to your questions. Yes I think you can tell a ever so slight diff with this on but it doesn't act like another tracking fin I the sense that it makes it harder to turn. Granted I don't think I want to go making high speed spin turns but I don't want to do that with my SAN anyway! Also I think I lost about 2mph top speed with mine. Bottom line if I ever sale the boat the very first thing I put on the new one will be another FAE.

Hey, that's my boat in the picture, a 98 SN.
We almost exclusively slalom ski when doing watersports and I love the FAE. It does throw up a little rooster tail, but we're skiing at 15 and 22 off, so no problem.
Otherwise, wake is unaffected or if it is, it's imperceptible.
For me, it's mostly a noise issue. We ski, but we also do a little bit of social cruising.
It just makes using the boat more enjoyable. The boat is noticeably quieter and less fumes when going slow.

To answer the question about handling and turning.
It affects low speed, off plane handling much more than on plane. The boat is a just a tad slower in initiating the turn. Now, I'm so used to it, I don't think about it any more. I did notice it in the beginning.
And I don't try high speed spinning maneuvers. I didn't before I had the FAE, so I still don't
It seems like I did lose a little off the top end speed, but I don't barefoot so not an issue.

Good responses so far. My primary reason for interest in FAE is noise reduction. I feel it has the potential to increase my stereo output to the rider/surfer significantly. No I'm not the jerk who cranks his tunes anywhere near marinas or populated docks/areas and in fact those people anger me. I do like to do the occasional high speed turn at the end of the day just to show my waterskiing friends that my boat can turn on a dime like theirs. :-) I'm just afraid that when trying that, I'd end up with a pipe on the bottom of the river. I'm not sure I can trust that support bracket they make for my boat. I think I just need to hear more real world experiences before I take the leap. Nordicron- Thanks for the perspective..... Yes all of our boats are a waste of money but, I love every minute of it.

I had a FAE on my 08 X-star. Huge decrease in noise in the boat. The FAE was the best "stereo" upgrade I ever purchased. Never had an issue with my FAE. As mentioned, it does throw a rooster tail. No perceivable affect on steering or wake.
