    Marinemax Rogers, MN ??

A couple of years ago CC switched our dealer to Marinemax in Rogers, MN. So far I'm 3 strikes for 3 encounters with them. 1) Mucked up new keypad install, 2) Didn't winterize correctly so cracked heater, and then this past year 3) Didn't reconnect knock sensors so boat alarmed and limped until we found the problem and fixed it. All simple carelessness issues.

Since they're our the CC warranty dealer I'd prefer to use them for service stuff and this years winterization, but have become a bit leery of their quality. What have others experiences been? I'm thinking I'd prefer to use White Bear Boatworks (who have a much better reputation) and see if they can get any needed warranty coverage from CC.

Warranty work may be tough, but I've had good success with Hallberg Marine in Wyoming for winterizations. They handle all makes of inboards and seemed to care about my boat.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I was thinking of having them store my boat and do some warranty work over this off season. My warranty ends mid Nov. I also was thinking of just skipping the warranty work on grounds that they might actually make it worse and cause many trips back and forth.

Just not enough dealers in mn. I understand they might not sell enough boats to have smaller territories. But seems like a bad situation. Seems like many boat dealers, not just limited to any particular make, just don't do that good of work, and just figure they will fix what they break from not winterizing correctly in the spring.

I agree Scott on the CC dealers in MN, I don't like having to deal with Big Corporate Marinemax (9-11) locations. I asked the person behind the counter at the Walker Marinemax location if they had a certified PCM Technician on staff, he said what's PCM? It's nice to deal with one dealer, such as FLMS (Moomba), Midwest MC (MC), or Minnesota Inboards (BU). Once Son's Watersports stop selling CC, there isn't much choice.

We are bringing the boat to Midwest Mastercraft to have it winterized etc, they have a certified tech/mech that can work on them. They pretty much set the bar for customer service, and are the best in MN anyway...

Why not bring it to Son Watersports? They might be a Centurion lot now, but Centurion also uses PCM engines, so maybe engine warranty work could be done there? Also, they still have the same service staff, which has a great history of CC service. Mark and the gang have always been awesome at getting me back on the water.

I will second mark at son. I have had a great relationship with him for 10 years now. He has been dealing with PCM stuff for more years than most.

Btw, at mention of flms, they no longer deal with moomba if I heard right. I am under the impression that mwmc took on the moomba line. Correct me if I am wrong, but this all happened in the last 2 or 3 months.

Don - you are correct. The guys at Midwest picked up Supra/Moomba. They have a couple at the Crystal location and then opened up a second shop on the Chan/Victoria border off HWY 5. Matt is a full service location there with a 12+ year PCM/Ilmore certified and does great gel work (has worked on my boat before). You can check out their new site and see the shop and sales floor here - http://www.midwestwatersports.com/Default.asp

I live in Oregon, so I do not know a lot about boat dealers in the Midwest, but I have heard good things about Son Watersports, even out here.

If you like the service you got there, continue to support them.

Here on the West coast, we had a similar problem. Correct Craft decided to close the regional service centers, and although being in Oregon, I had limited dealings with West Coast Correct Craft, the closing of the regional service center did create some problems. Thankfully, Correct Craft saw the error of their ways, and made Superior Boat Repair & Sales the northern California Correct Craft Dealer

I would also suggest a letter, probably the old fashioned pen and paper kind, snail mailed to Correct Craft corporate, with service experiences at the dealer you like, and do not like, may cause Correct Craft to reconsider their switch of dealers in your area.
Mention maybe that when you consider buying a new boat, due to their reputation, you will for example buy it from from Son Watersports, and you really would like it to be a boat made by Correct Craft.

Ron Nace is very aware of our problems with MarineMax as they've come on the heels of 3 years of constant problems with our boat. Sadly, between the problems we had with Nautique and the follow-on problems with Marinemax, we may be in a Mastercraft in a year or two. I, and more importantly, my family, cannot go through again what we've gone through the past 4 years.

                        Crew,

Thanks for the kind words, MWMC has taken over the Supra and Moomba lines, as always we are proud to service Ilmor, PCM, Indmar and Mercruiser. Our techs specialize in Ilmor, PCM and Indmar specifically. All service is currently through the Crystal location only, we have hired an additional tech this year to keep up with demand a bit better. In the future we hope to open a service center at the Victoria location but with the high volume of winterizations we do it was not possible to have a high quality service center up and running yet this year.
Sold my boat to buy a house, the house is much less fun.

I would first like to say I am very sorry for the issues that SkiTundra has had to deal with and they should not exist. Every issue that was taken on by our service department prior to us being a Nautique dealer and every issue after that has be taken care of.

When our technician missed the heater core, our service department replaced it, when our technician missed the knock sensor, we sent a tech to SkiTundra's home and fixed the issue on the water.

Unfortunatly for SkiTundra, his boat had issues from the start that have been diligently worked on by both Nautique and MarineMax and our now taken care of to my knowledge. This issue has been a huge inconvenience for the customer and for that I greatly apologize. We are constantly working to improve on all short comings and appreciate the feedback as it will help us moving forward to limit problems.

We have been in business for 20+ years at this location and the overwhelming majority of our customers would go nowhere else with there business.

I'm still left in a quandary. 15 times that Son Watersports did service on it over 2 years and to the best of my knowledge not a single one was screwed up. 3 times that MarineMax has over 2 years and all 3 have been messed up. Now, with about 9 feet of gelcoat crack to be fixed, can I trust MarineMax to get it right this time? Are your glass folks professionals or are they the same as the other folks who've worked on this boat?

I had really high hopes that things would improve. The Nautique problems seem to be fixed and now we're in to a string of dealer problems (not to mention the suspension on the trailer falling apart). When will it end? I've endured more problems in 4 years than anyone I know has endured in 15. You guys are a nice bunch, but at what point will I be able to depend on you to do a professional job and do it correctly?
