97 SNOB - Your opinion please

    Hi Everybody,
I'm currently looking at this 97 SNOB and would love your opinion on it. It doesn't have the GT40 - Is that a deal breaker? I would also love any other opinions you may have on this boat.

    Thanks

    Scott

If it is the 350 (5.7) GM throttle body engine, it is not a deal breaker. Make sure you take the boat out, and run it, before you buy it.
If your heart is set on a SNOB, there may not be one with a GT-40 engine, unless you are willing to wait.

Hey Scott, now you're on the right site to talk Nautique! I certainly didn't want to go "there" on the BOS site, but the group here will glady pipe in on the too numerous to mention reasons why a CC is superior product to that Bu you were looking at. Actually, if you went and drove both, yI have no doubt you could feel the difference. The BOS guys are a great resource, but sometimes get a little too wrapped up in the tow tractor thing. For most of us, our boats are meant for pleasure as well, and we prefer solid materials and build quality - versus just something with a decent wake to pull us a couple thousand feet in two directions.

That's what the pic shows and, I agree, that would be AOK with me.

Ha ha!! I figured that was bound to happen. I post a similar question on multiple sites, I'm bound to find one guy who sees both Yeah, I'm definitely leaning much more toward the SNOB right now, I've just had multiple people in love with that GT40 that tell me to wait until one comes available.

Ideally, yes I would take it for a test drive and then go from there on seeing how it feels, however, the boat is in CA and I am in UT, so I'm not excited to get there and drive it, and say to myself "Oh this thing is gutless at sea level Bakersfield, so it's going to be even way more gutless at 4500 ft. SLC." Then I end up driving home having accomplished nothing more than a really expensive and time consuming test drive.

Then I get into the fact that realistically, I am willing to wait, so maybe it would be better to wait around for a GT40? I'm skiing my buddy's 96 prostar 205 right now, so while certainly this would be a huge slalom upgrade, it's not like waiting and riding the 205 for another month or even another year is going to kill me.
