Bimini w/extended pylon on 88 nautique

I would like to buy a bimini top for my boat. Does anyone have one that they did not have to modify ( put a hole in ) to accomadate for extended pylon. Any help would be aprecciated. I am looking for inexpensive one, and think cutting a hole in cheaper materials might not work well. Thanks for help. Ben

I've got this one on my 89 2001, and it works great. It's got a zippered opening that my skylon fat pole goes through. Very good fabric too. As soon as we get a weekend of good weather here, I'll take a pic of mine open and post it.

Ben, On my 88, (and I guess you haven't seen it with the top up) The bimini is mounted forward enough so that the rear of it butts up against the skylon. I mounted all the attach points in the rub-rail so as not to have to drill into the gel-coat. ( Works Great!!) I ripped the stitching in the center of the top to allow the cable and shock-tube to pass through then restitched it so that the seam would not continue to seperate. Let me know if your over towards my way and I'll be glad to show you. How did you and steve make out on the rebuild??
If you can't do it in, on, or behind a Nautique..... It just ain't worth doing!

Hey Tim, Went pretty well. Steve was a huge help! She aint perfect but is doing okay so far. Tranny is a little suspect, too many rpm. Haven't checked it out completely. I hope Charlie is doing well, tell him I said hello. I called Steve last week but did not hear back from him. Tell him I will call soon if you see him. How long and high is your bimini? What material and where did you buy from? Talk to you soon.

But if i'm right, you can't "close" your bimini with the skylon behind it...? I also want to install one, but I'm not sure which one to take, just like you.

Typically, witha bimini/high pole setup, you can fold up the
            bimini.

Scenario 1. If the bimini opens in front of the high pole, then it is
no problem to fold the bimini, and put on the boot. Typically, the
bimini can be laid forward over the windshield, and resting on the bow of the boat. If you do this be sure to tie the bimini down to the front eylets
where the bimini straps attach this will prevent the folded bimini from
flopping up and down while moving.

Scenario 2. If you have a hole cut in the bimini for the high pole to go
through, you will need to loosen the cynch strap which goes to the
front tow eye of the boat, and lift the high pole out of the hole. Then
fold as in scenario 1. This is easier if you have a 2 piece high pole, because you only have to lift a three or 4 foot tube instead of a 6 to
            8 foot tube.

Scenario3. If the cynch strap also goes through a hole in the bimini, this
is the most cumbersome setup to fold down. you will need to disconnect the cynch strap and feed it back through the hole before folding. I would
rather have a hole for the high pole than a hole for the cynch strap if
I had a choice. In some cases, due to the size of the bimini, the angles,
etc. I've seen situations where a hole was required for both the high pole
            and for the cynch strap.
