Adirondack Marine in Lake George NY

Has anyone ever done business with these people? I always heard good things about them. I have know the owner Tom Roach for more than 15 years, and bought thousands of dollars of boards etc from him. When I bought my last Nautique I was not able to buy from him because I lived in NJ. When Nautique had dealer rules. Now I live up here, and I just tried to buy a used boat from them. I made a deal with Drew the salesman at a boat show on Sunday and set up a water test for Thursday. I called him today to set the time, and he tells me they sold the boat to someone else? How can you sell a boat to someone else when you already made a deal with me? Not to mention that I asked him at the show if he needed a deposit, and he said no. and teh answer I got when I talked to Tom, was "oh well, there will be others". This was a boat at a killer price that I was going to fix, so there aren't going to be "others". So if you do any business with them, I'd suggest you get it in writing, and force a depost on them, or you to could get what I got.

I purchased my boat from Adk Marine and nearly all of me parts, repairs and supplies over the last 20 years. I have known the family a long time. I have never heard anyone upset after dealing with Tom or Drew or anyone else in the company. In fact, i believe they have won a number of customer satisfaction awards from correct craft. I am completely surprised that you had such a disappointing experience especially since you have worked with Tom in the past. It really does not sound like him. It sounds like that there was a major communication break down somewhere within the orginization. Was this one of those fixer-uppers they had listed for less than $6000? I believe they had 2 listed at one point, not sure where he gets them from.
I have often done business with them with a handshake (or voicemail) and never had a problem.

yes, its was a 2000 Ski. They did some work on it and then put it up for sale. I have the ability and friends to have fixed the stuff wrong and have had a great boat for a really good price. I was REALLY surprised at the response I got from Tom when I talked to him, because thats not how he has done business in the past. Telling me that I had never bought a boat from him before when HE was the one that told me I couldn't buy my last one from him because of where I lived was strange. Total "I don't care" phone call. Pretty much blew me off. Drew truly didn't seem to care that he screwed me. I guess handshakes to him don't mean what they do to me. Or I guess he only would have cared if it was a $75K Nautique.

Too bad that your Wikipedia definition applies to email, not forums. If it applied to forums, then every original thread would be spam.

So typical. Have to have post count to mean anything. I don't need to explain myself to anyone. Just because you are in the "1000 post club" what does that mean? I have been involved with Correct Craft since 1998, before forums like this exsisted. I only joined these 2 Nautique forums, because I "thought" I was getting another Nautique. Clearly, I'm not.

You can call it what you want. Its nothing more than letting people know my experience with Adirondack Marine. They can make up their own minds.

I just had too. I felt like another 1000 poster had to join in. Its "1000 post code you know". I tried to buy a boat from Drew. Great guy, we just could agree on a price, which wasn't eithers fault. That said I had great conversations with them.

Maybe it is because I just joined the 1000 post club, but unless you have more then 100 (one hundred) posts and I think you know the year they move the exhaust from Starboard to port and WHY. Well you get the point.

I guess my point is that if have been friends (maybe associated would be a better word) with Tom the owner for 15 years, bashing them on open forums seems rough. I would have talked to Tom directly, stated my displeasure about the situation and said how we can move forward. That 2000 yellow ski for 8K guessing might have been a good deal, but there are a couple other nice boats there for a little more money that you could be discussing. The trailer looks like it is going to snap in half, plus you are going to have a ton in the interior. Not saying you are better off, but trying to see bigger picture. Personally the 6K 97 would have been a better deal, but it is sold too.

Keep looking you’ll find something better, not to mention based on all the cheaper boats they have, guessing they will get more. Hopefully they will still let you buy one from them.

oh thank you for not asking Correct Craft to give you a new boat.

I know TRJ to much. I wonder if Airtool will jump in.

Your assessment of Tom and Drew seems way off base from my experiences and I do not know of anyone who would feel the same as you do. It is too bad you feel this way, really. It is a great Marina with great employees. If you were looking for a large group to confirm your assessment, I do not think you will find it. I know you won't.
I suggest another call to Tom to discuss the situation and get up front for the next boat. They have quite a few come through as you know.
                    Good Luck.

Seems I remember from many many years ago someone trying to get CC to give them a new boat for some imagined wrong. Was pretty funny at the time.

I did talk to Tom on the phone right after I hung up from Drew. It was a "strange" conversation based on the dozens he and I have had over the years. a really "oh well" Like I said, it was strange at best. It was not the way our conversations have gone. rememeber, this was the guy who was honest enough to tell me to follow CC's rules and buy from a NJ dealer when I lived there, even though he probably could have gotten away with it, because I spent so much time on Lake George that we could have said the boat was bought for here.

See my reply above. and yes, it didn't follow any of what I have known about Adirondack over the years. I think thats what shocked and pissed me off so much. I have never met/dealt with Drew before, only Tom. so I have no idea what the deal there was.
