Does anyone know what kind of grease should be used for the grease fitting on trailer buddy disc brakes? Nothing that I could find in the manual about it.
Could you be mistaking a bleeder for a Zerk fitting, they look similar.
That's a good question. I was wondering the foundation of his question also. I was going to ask earlier if he was concerned traditional marine trailer grease would not stand up to the heat of disk brake hubs. Often greases are marketed for disk brakes because they (supposedly) can handle higher heats and (I don't recall) marine wheel bearing grease touting that on the label anyway.
I bet you guys are right on it be a bleeder. It looks identical (is identical?) to a grease fitting. Back when I did my brakes myself the bleeders (German cars) looked a bit diff. Thanks to both of you (Glad I didn't try to shove any grease up this thing).
I might have missed something here...but it seems to me you might be talking about the zerk fitting and you might need grease. Are you talking about a fitting on the caliper (if so, then that's a bleeder) or are you talking about a fitting at the center of the axle hub (originally under a protective cap that pops off). The standard "Trailer Buddy" axle assembly requires grease...UFP says any #2 multipurpose grease.
