    Hot Water shower question

Does anyone on here have a hot water shower on their Nautique? I have a new 210 and had thought about adding one for cool weather riding. Its nice to warm the wetsuts up before putting them on for our second set Any tips on how they hook up, and or how they are plumbed? Is it a chore to do? Thanks,

I think on the open loop motors there is no problem, but closed loop the plumbing is going to be a little tricky .

If you don't want to control the temp or the pressure the easiest way is to remove a drain petcock, replace it with a hose nipple and attach a good temp rated hose and sprayer. You can splice in a ball value in the line as an on/off device.

I put it on our 230 with the 390hp(closed loop). It was not hard took about 3hrs. got my shower from dim. I hardly use it. I think its been on 3 times in 5 years. It does get very hot if you just have the hot water on.

yep. I have one installed on my 2008 SV-211. Motor is located in rear of the starboard storage compartment. Shower head pulls through a drilled opening through the transom. Water temp is fully adjustable from lake temp to scalding hot, water pressure is execllent. I will admit to having it professionally installed as the thought of drilling a hole in the fiberglass transom made me more than a little nervous.

Be careful. The water that comes directly off the motor is hot enough to scald. That's why so few boats come with hot showers any more. When they did, like my old Centurion, they almost always had a mixing valve to add lake water to adjust the temp. That said, just add the mixing valve and go for it. it's pretty sweet on a cold day.

skied yesterday (I'm in Canada).... Shower came in very handy! I mix the hot and cold together through a simple brass garden hose "Y" valve.

Heater in the boat is good - BUT - hot water is the only way to really take the "chill" out of a late fall (or early spring) set.

There are now PEX fittings with a built in and adjustable temperature control valves. I wonder that would work? I'd have to think about the pressure drop. It might be too much.

If you are blending? do you need two pumps? or is the pump strong enough to suck from two suction lines?

These are available in various brands and connectors.

If you just hook a hose and sprayer up to the manifold do you need a pump?

Funny this came up. I just purchased a shower kit (Heater Craft 101SC). The buyer of this year's boat would like one installed. I'll probably work on it next week.

Probably. (Unless its purely for hot water to dribble on you and warm you up. Fan any kind of rinsing effect, a pump would be needed.)

The shower kits come with a pump...but usually not shown in the pics. Showing the pump would probably scare off the average customer.

BUT, I'm not sure where the pump mounts....after the mixing valve?

Here is the kit Dave referenced.
