    Replacement Engine/Tranny on a 2003 Ski Nautique

    Hi
I'm considering upgrading to a 2003 Ski Nautique which I found for super cheap, but of course there is a reason it is cheap. It was a repo and has no engine or tranny, as the previous owner removed them before it was reposessed. Does anyone know where I can find a good PCM excallibur engine and 1.23:1 tranny for less than the local Nautique dealer is asking ? They want about $8750 for both.

Assuming you're looking for an Excalibur and the 1.23:1 tranny....SkiDim prices are:
      engine - $7,142
      tranny - $1,579
      total - $8,721+shipping$$??
So, compared to that your dealer seems like a good deal. That price doesn't include installation does it?

The dealer price doens't include installation, but they say they can do it in a day. I checked out skidim and they are willing to shave off a couple hundred if I'm buying both engine/tranny and it would save me 7.75% tax but then I've got to find somone else who will drop it in for me...
Maybe my dealer prices aren't so bad afterall.
I was kind of hoping I could find something out of a wrecked boat...

Go with the dealer expecially if you will want them to warranty it and service it. A few hundred bucks saved now may cost you more in the future.........
          Ski on dude!

If you are willing to wait a good deal is sure to come along. Sometimes these motors get changed when they spin a bearing or some other fixable failure. A decent mechanic could pick a damaged motor and make the repairs then put it in the boat. Not sure if I would take the same approach with the tranny. A new tranny is probably a good call. You might want to consider other boat engines too if cost is a major issue. The boat will handle a little differently with the prop spinning the wrong way but it will still run. A buddy had an older Centurion with a Nautique motor it in, reverse rotation and all.

Maybe give a call to the guy who owned it last. I hear he has an engine and tranny laying around and nothing to do with them.

Do you know his phone #? Seriously, how would I track him down?
I'm not so sure I want him knowing I bought the boat that was repoed from him anyway.
At this point I'm thinking new from the dealer may be my best option.
