    Surfing a 2000 SAN

Hi all. I am new to these forums. I tried to use the search bar but could not find my answer.

I am looking to purchase a 2000 SAN this week. I wakeboard/wakeskate and this is the boat I want. I have already checked it out and it is in great shape and in my price range.

My question is, Will I be able to surf behind this boat? I recall seeing somewhere that I may only be able to get a goofy(stance) wave out of this boat. Is that true?

Thanks for all the replies in advance.

your search function must be broken. or maybe you typed 'stan' or 'van' instead of 'san'. last count this question was asked 14,564 times. either way its all good. if surfing for you is #2 or #3 after wakeboarding you will be fine. If surf is #1 look for a different boat. theres a difference between the 2 sides, but its minimal in my opinion. i'd score both sides 7/10.

The search feature on the forum can be tricky. I find that if I search Google the topic through PN usually comes up first.

I've dialed in my surf wake in my 2000 san it just took some time weighting it right, now we can get a great wake on port and starboard. Couple of port side pics for you.....

Surf mine frequently regular on port side. 7/10 seems right to me.

That wave looks great, how have you weighted it for that sort of wave?

                Thanks for the suggestions.

Chexi, Does 7/10 mean you put 70% weight on the port side? And what weight do you normally run?

J2twenty5, What is your weight distribution and what weight ballast are you running to get that wave? It looks great.

7/10 as far as a rating of this hull for surfing. I run 750 in rear hatch surf side, 500 in belly, 400 in lead under surf side bow seats (sometimes 80 of this is further back u der main cabin seat, and ideally 400 on the surf side seats if I don't have passengers. Otherwise I just put the passengers on surf side.

I run 750 in the rear with 2 fat brick sacks on top of that, 200-300 in the locker, full integrated bow sac( I think it's 600lbs). I also run a fat brick in the seat corner, on the floor and one in the bow port side. I also found running about 200lbs on the starboard side has lengthened my wave quite a bit(wider sweet spot). With that being said this is how I run with myself at 225, my wife @ 105 and two buddies @ about 180-190 which is our normal crew when surfing. With different people in the boat I usually just leave out the fat bricks and place people accordingly........ Hope this helps
