Looking to upgrade from my 99 Air Nautique and am looking at 2006 and newer boats. Priority is wake size and quality over roominess and storage space. it is my understanding that the wake on the 210 is steeper while the wake on the 220 and 230 is longer with more transition. Is this true? Which boat as the cleaner wake?

now, i'm no expert, so i hope people won't crucify me over my opinion but, i have ridden many times in a friends 210 (new hull), and have owned a 220 and a 230. the 210 seems to keep a cleaner lip both sides easier without moving people around all the time. it gets pretty fun if you sack it out. the 220 was really sensitive. i had trouble getting the wake to be clean both sides. i tried moving bags around but, i was always messing around with it and it never quite lived up to expectations. my 230 has two 450s in the back, one bag in the belly and one under the bow seats. i also add a 150 brick in the bow when i am lacking a spotter. otherwise it sits on the passenger side, holding a flag . it is also sensitive at times, and you have to move people around in the boat to get a clean lip or to quiet the occasional purpoise. between the three, my personal favorite is the 210. but, that could be me just wanting what i don't have...speaking of which, have you rode behind the g23? wow.2013 G23 550 NSS

I'll agree with NWwater for the most part. 07+ 210 is a nice wake, but if you add fly high system, it will need the Zero Off upgrade. 220 is a fun wake, but can be finicky if over stock ballast. It's steeper than the 210 above.
230 is the most consistent to me, with stock ballast. I'm an old beginner/int wakeboarder, and the stock ballast wake is plenty big enough for anything I'm going to throw! We have run it with stock plus 750's in rear lockers and arrow sack (~650), and the wakeboarding wake was HUGE! It did take a while to get on plane, and I needed to keep both passengers in the bow to prevent porpoising, but the wake was clean. The 230 wake has a little "wash" on top of the lip, I mean tiny, and it doesn't affect the pop whatsoever. To me, when I see it, it means the boat has leveled out and it's ready to ride. I think this is the characteristic of the 230's wake that people think it's "washing" the wake.
BTW, I ride the most behind a 210 and our 230.2008 230 TE-ZR6

I haven't ridden in a 230 with a 343, but my friend's 210 has a 343, and it's fine. It's better with a 1235 or one of the other "power props" than the 1579 (especially if it's loaded down), one caveat with the 1235 prop and Fly Hi ballast, you will want to get the ZO upgraded antenna and software, otherwise, it will porpoise.
IMHO, the 230 "needs" the ZR engine, I'm quite pleased with how our boat gets on plane with stock ballast and full of people...2008 230 TE-ZR6

I have owned all three. As mentioned above, the 220 was very difficult to get clean wake on both sides. The 230 had the capability of getting the biggest wake but was sensitive to side to side weight. I owned a 210, stepped up to a 230, and the next year went back to the 210. I think the 210 has the easiest, most consistent wake. If you don't need the extra interior room the 230 can offer, I would go with the 210 all day.2021 G23 450 - Current
