    10 foot pole on a 97 SNOB

    Hi Everybody,
I just purchased my first ever boat - a 97 SNOB. It came with a 10 foot pole from the previous previous owner, but the guy I bought it from had never used it and had no idea how to show me to set it up.

I think I've got the basics, and now I'm just wondering about some of the finer details, so I'm wondering if there is anybody else on here with the same or similar setup that might have experience with this setup.

How tall should the pole be upon final installation?
I assume my connecting point on the front can be my lifting eye...right?
How much of the main pylon should remain exposed?
How tight exactly to I cinch this thing?

Any ideas or pointers are greatly appreciated. Thanks

Congrats on the boat and welcome to the site. I have never used a ten foot pole but it looks similar to the skylon I used on my old Sport. You definitely do NOT want to hook the cable to the lift eye! The webbing that is hooked through the caribeener should go around the nose of the the boat and through the hook that you use to connect to the trailer. Then come back up the nose and connect to the caribeener again. You want to get the rather strap a tight as you can. If you are having problems getting it tight you can have somebody stand on the motor box and push the pole forward as you tighten the strap. As for the height, is yours adjustable? I think they are typically about 7 feet off the floor of the boat but I don't know.

listen to s_kelley and connect around the front of bow through the eyehook on the front. i have a skylon also, it does not go down all the way to the floor over my pylon. i don't think total height will matter that much, but it for sure should slide over the pylon a good distance for stability. keep in mind as you use it the extended pylons are designed to have the majority of the forces pulling towards the back of the boat, not the sides.

I do have that same board rack. be mindful when turning around to pick up your boarders, the rope will get hung up in empty rack-space. i have broken off two fingers of the rack doing this....

it should look similar to this when you are done

Thanks much guys. I didn't get to use it yesterday as planned as my son got sick, but I did go out and set it up as if I was going to ride. Right now my bimini is more important than that rack, and my family is still just 3 people big, so I'm going to set up the bimini and the pole at a low setting until I get more and more comfortable with inching it upward. Once I have inched it up high enough then I'll throw the rack back on and probably get one of those rope guider things in order to keep the rope out of the rack. Does anybody know who was the manufacturer of the "10 foot pole?" I'm just wondering who I should buy the rope guide thing from when that time comes. Thanks again.

I finally got it on the lake. Here are some pics. I'll need it a little taller before putting that rack back on.
