    Trunk Locks and such

    Hey guys,

I picked up a 2001 Air nautique with 57 Hours on it last summer. The boat is perfect not ones scratch, just as new as anything on the floor.

Anyway, the only problem is the keys which came with the boat(3 of them) dont seem to work.

Now the key fits in the lock, it actually removes the tumbler if i turn it but it just will not lock the lock. Used wd-40 thinking it was a stuck lock, but all 3 of the locks on the boat are like this.

He told us when we bought the boat about this, its really annoying. It never really bothered him. But it does bother me

What are my options, tips and tricks.

    thanks for your time,

    Steven Eliuk

I have a 2000SN with glovebox and front storage lock. The front storage is a problem to lock due to alignment. This may be your problem. If the tumbler removes it sounds like the paw that locks to the boat may be missing. A good locksmith should be able to fix all three for under 100 bucks.

Rick is correct - alignment is a problem. The tumbler will sometimes rotate such that the lock is not properly aligned. The locking mechs on that year model and others is poorly conceived.
