naut 200 listing to one side?

Noticed something strange today whilst skiing: on the passenger side, the wake seemed higher and sharper than the other, but thought nothing of it and put it down to the go pro camera attached to tip of ski. Later whilst pulling my partner she is 56kg (only me in the boat) whilst looking back towards the skier, the transom was way off level and seemed to be listing over to my side (lower on driver side) and considerable spray coming from driver side of the boat just behind driver seat.( as if 2 people would be sitting directly behind me) My partner skiing also considered more spray coming from driver side of the boat.

Boat handled ok , no additioonal weight anywhere else on the boat, no leaks or water in hull, the 3 fins all perfect, straight and aligned,prop and rudder fine , no vibrations, hydro gate lever forward as usual for slalom and working, .

boat in salt but only few barnacles on swim platform brackets, I am stumped and this has just happened overnite

any ideas guys??

further to my post above, can the transom be full of water,(this seems a large hollwow section at rear of boat) and therefore causing boat to list to one side at speed. The reason i say this is because i was clearing out some debris stuck in the hydro gate hole( hole where the lever/rod comes out from transom) could i have broken some sort of seal and let in water? is the transom area a sealed unit

bilge pump working and no excess water from stern outlet/ ....bilge area dry??


maybe hyro gate not aligned??

With only one person in a small boat like a 200, it certainly will list to the driver's side. That's normal. Many people carry some weight to place on the other side to even this out.

Do they not put ballast on the port side to accommodate this? I thought they used to?

geoff its someting ive not noticed before, today the spray was breaking very high on the hull just behind me(the driver) i dont recall this before


the trim of the boat certainly seemed very different today at speed....hydro gate loose/ flapping??

If this is a LH rotation prop and the driver is on the starboard, I think it would lean that way. I've noticed some changes in the wake as the wind direction shifts. We normally have as southern breeze and if it changes, so does the boat performance.

They should def. add a sub floor, perfectly placed 165lb ballast option. Duh! Also, didn't the 05' and younger boats turn their prop in that direction for skiers or is that a rumor an old ski dog told me?

how do i know if it is LH Prop............the boat drifts to port when i reverse always..its a 2011 200 dd

also during this list on the driversx side, the gas tank was practically empty, so maybe boat is even lighter and suceptible to my weight?

No matter how they ballast the boat, unless it can be altered, it will lean depending on the boat crew. I'd like to see a ballast tank with a pump one of these days.

I keep a 50# weight in the boat and move it depending on boat crew. Pretty much standard procedure for all the tournament boats out there.

Umm all internal ballast can be adjusted to match conditions. One pump and a thru hull.
