After market ballast for SAN 230 team edition

Hello everyone. I own a 2008 230 SAN with integral ballast. Does anybody has upgraded the ballast system and what was the outcome. Any suggestion as to what kind of ballast and who makes them? Let me know.

    Thanks

I have added fat sacs to the rear and front by piggy backing them off the integrated factory ballast system. Bunch of thread on it and how to do it. Pretty simple, saves a ton of time and works great.

Wakemakers has most of the parts you will need in a kit and integrating them is easy. I have integrated 750's in the lockers and another one that I move around as needed. In the lockers, I added a ball value in the overflow line between the sac and the drain hole so I could close it when the bag was full to prevent siphoning. Also, with integrated sacs, if you tread a 1/4 plastic tube through the sac so both ends of the 1/4 inch tube are in your main lines, you don't have to worry about your hard tank not having air when you draining it. I've used the Fly Highs for a two seasons and so far no problems

Ask lion90 on here what he was running.. his 230 was dialed in perfectly. His wake was what made want a Nautique.

We remove the rear hard tanks, and replace them with FlyHigh 1100 pounders. We also put a Tube sac on the bow floor, and the bow triangle on top of that. If you were only going to run the rear sacs about half way, then you could get away without using the bow triangle.

We actually run more than this (2 more 400 pounders on the main cabin floor), if it is just two of us.

Already missing my 230 but know something better comes in a few months.

We plumbed in a custom fly high kit on top of the factory. I believe it was 750s or 900s in the rears and the integrated bow sack. I also put 300 in lead in the ski locker.

Most times we rode out with All stock full, the integrated bow sac full, the 300 in lead for the ski locker and the rears half full. It worked out great for a 70-75ft line at 23mph. More weight requires more speed which I really didn't want to do. The larger bags in the back were fully utilized for surfing though.

I have a post on here with pics of my install, will try to find it.

i have a 2008 also. we left the factory tanks and added 750's in the rear lockers, the 650-700 bow sac. with this setup the boat would porpoise pretty bad with nose filled and rears half full. my marina recommended adding the arrow sac in the mid locker and now the wake is perfect. with all ballast full, you have to ride 75 feet @ 25mph. i too will try to get some pics.

if you do any surfing, get the 750's for the lockers instead of the recommended 400's. if you go with the 400's, than you would like not need the arrow sac in the mid locker. not quite plug & play, but pretty easy to install.

We had the porpoising problem as well however, upgrading the zero off software and getting the new zero off gps receiver fixed the issue for us. There is a complete thread on that here. Of course too much tail weight isn't good hence the reason we had a little less in the locker.

I have 400s piggy backing the 500lb tanks in the rear lockers, and a 650 under the bow seats connected to the 1000lb belly tank. Almost 4000lbs. total and it is well balanced.

Do what???? Sounds like you have about 2200lbs. Stock ballast is only about 1k on a SAN.
