I understand the idea. With a g23 or g25...I don't get the idea that cost is that big of a deal for the diesel. I guess it is just me but I would rather have a little cheaper boat and I nicer tuck if it was a money thing. I think the g25 almost warrants a 3/4 ton just for the brakes a lone. Maybe not a diesel but still. Maybe I am biased but I will never own another gas truck.

      G23 and an Ecoboost!

Any suggestions for an SUV for towing G25? Currently looking at Ford Expedition (tow capacity 9200lbs) or Infinity QX56 (8500lbs). Don't plan on towing more than 4-5 times per year and only up to 200 miles flat road at a time. Thx.

(Oh and need to get a trailer as well. Any I should look at and should I get the triple axle?)

I know that a G25 is considerably bigger, but my Expedition EL tows my 2013 210 up and down the hills of Virginia very well.

2015 Suburban, or QX56.....Personally I'd wait for the Ecoboost Expedition to come out in the fall. I drive a 2015 Suburban for work and my 2013 Ecoboost F150 will run circles around it all day long. That said the Suburban with air suspension has a really nice ride and we almost bought my wife a QX56, but she thought it was a little too big to drive on a daily basis.

The new gen 2014 Sierra/Silverado is absolutely fantastic. Towing nothing I get about 18.5mpg in the city and when towing my 230 on a boatmate trailer it gets about 11mpg. Plus you get the reliability of a naturally aspirated V8 instead of a TTV6. With my Sierra in trailer mode, you harldy notice that the boat is back there and that is saying a lot since it is such a big boat. I just think Ecoboost is a little bit overrated, I have a buddy who has an FX4 F150 with Ecoboost and all he says about is that he wishes every day he had gotten the 5.0. Another truck that would be worth looking into is the 1/2 ton ram with a diesel V6. That motor is the reason they won MT Truck of the Year back to back so there must be something to it.

So for what it worth here is my real world towing numbers all with a loaded down 230 (6,000lb all in) on a 3,000 mile cross country trip I make each year.

              2007 Yukon XL Denali 6.2 AWD 9.5-10mpg @ 65-70 (sold it)
2013 Infiniti QX56 AWD 10-11mpg @65-70 Mommas ride that replaced her yukon xl (Tows better than the yukon xl)
2014 Ford 250 Platinum 4x4 6.7 Powerstroke @65-70 9 MPG- It for sure tows better than anything I have ever owned, but it should, it is a dump truck. These numbers everyone talks about is pre-emission vehicles. I call bs on anyone getting 15+ while towing with anything new. I live in Texas, so my numbers are mostly sea level and hot.

The QX56 gets better mileage than the Powerstroke? That's interesting if I am reading this correctly.

There is zero chance...I had a titan and I now have a powerstroke...I get much better mileage than described here when towing. I average 18.5 overall and tow twice a week for 4 hours at a time.

There's a lot more to towing fuel economy than just an engine.

I totally agree however diesels in general get better mileage. The QX56 has never had a good reputation in terms of fuel efficiency....albeit a fine vehicle. That's why I thought it was interesting.

. I tow my G with a 5.0 F150. It tows better than I expected but I wouldn't want to tow long distances on a regular basis. It sucks the gas but I only really tow it once or twice a year. A 3/4 ton wouldn't fit in my garage and the 1/2 ton is much more comfortable as a daily driver.

                          Yep...
You've got to take the good with the bad and find a happy place. Just keep your expectations within the realm of reality. Hopefully not get misled by the manufacturer too. LOL!!!

                          Nice rig by the way...

My 2011 Toyota Sequoia pulls my G21 just fine up and down some steep canyons 4500 ft to 7000 ft and back down(Utah).
All I did was add Air bags to the rear suspension. G25 would be what 1200-1500lbs more with the triple trailer I would not do that.

Towed the 210 with an 05 d-max and 14 silverado 5.3. Both were 13-15 mpg's. Dumbo here got the silverado with the 3:08's in it, lotta shifting going on!

I did however average 25.6mpg just now on the way home from the cottage, all highway 100 miles.

Wow, that squat on your truck is bad. I tow with a Tundra and it's not that bad.

if you wanna keep that F150, suggest you look into adding Roadmaster Active Suspension. You need it, that is not a safe tow. Emergency braking would be a trainwreck like that. And you don't have the hitch at the proper height, slightly above level for max braking. Is your hitchrated for 8000??

any chance you have ran your G across the scales for an actual weight?

What bran trailer is that? It looks like the boat needs to slide 6-10" to the rear to reduce tongue weight. Is that bow stop adjustable? Ubolts?
