Add 3-4 additional folks their bags, few tools, hitch... Your truck options and you are within 500lbs if you run a skinny boat gear wise. Not trying to be negative... Want you to be safe brother. Let one thing go wrong... Flat tire, emergency stop, bow strap break while ill balanced etc etc.
He's right. The more you load up your truck with peeps and gear, the lower your tow/payload capacity becomes. You can close the gap fast when you're towing a bigger boat.

Cherokee pulling that boat... I pray for the innocent people who travel the same Highway as that set up. I'd like to know the sidewall statistics on the trailer tires because from the picture they look like something from an 88 Honda civic.

Was waiting for a comment like that!
The trailer tyres are 255/45/18 which are rated well above what is required to do the job, the jeep is also rated to pull 3500kgs and does do with the job just fine, upgrades brakes to do the stopping. We Alonso have to run electric brakes on any load over 2500kgs so it isn't quite apples for apples.
Down here in New Zealand we don't have much choice for big tow vehicles, there are probably a dozen f250 size trucks in the whole country and I wouldn't think there would be more than 100 f150 on the road..... You guys have it so lucky over in the states! Your best selling vehicle is the f150....... Ours is a Toyota corolla! I see all these posts about towing G's and what will and won't do the job and laugh..... It would be great if gm and ford started making your trucks in right hand drive, then we could actually use them!

I towed my 216 with a Jeep Commander occasionally. It had all the power I needed, but it felt squirly from time to time, even with all the electronic nannies. It wasn't as stable as the truck but it did OK. Of course my 216 is NO G23. LOL!
But seeing as your so limited for tow vehicles, you gotta work with what you got. However, I would HIGHLY recommend some air bags to level that rear end. You will love it and your Jeep will handle much better under load. See my post above with my truck.

                    I towed 7300 lbs for 3 hours yesterday with my 2013 F150 with the 5.0. I got 12.9 mpgs.
                    In the hills.
On the way out with only the 2000lb trailer I got just over 18 mpgs.
                    V8 baby.
