Surfing the G25 vs the G23

    Good morning guys from overseas,
I am about to sell my 2011 SAN 230 and contemplating a G23 or G25 purchase.
I demoed the G23 but not the G25 as there aren't any in Switzerland...
I do both wakeboarding and wakesurfing, but I have to say that I have been doing more wakesurfing than wakeboarding over the last 2 years and this unfortunately won't improve due to my old age ;-)!
Anyway, I was wondering if any of you had surfed the G25 wake and if there is a real advantage vs the G23 due to the extra weight and length.
I don't really need the extra space available with the G25 but was wondering if it made sense on a pure wake size basis?
I would consider the 450 engine for both them and would prefer surfing with only stock ballast as a piggy backing solution like I currently have on my 230 seems complicated with the soft ballasts of the G's.

Thanks a lot for your answers and have a good day,
    Jeff

I just rode the G25 two weeks ago (I own a G23). In my opinion, the G23 has a much, MUCH, better stock wake and wave than the G25. I plan on getting another G next year, and will definitely be going with the G23. There was another guy in the boat (considering a G purchase as well), and he commented that the stock G23 wake/wave looked like it was much better than the 25. He didn't ride the 25, so his opinion is strictly on the view from the boat.

The G25 is two feet longer, but only weighs 500 more pounds...it's going to take quite a bit of extra ballast to get up to stock G23 wake.

also, if you dont need the extra space the G25 is really not worth the extra money.

I love my g23 wake for boarding. But if you anticipate mostly surfing, there are other brands I would demo. I am a novice surfer at best, but I have witnessed much better surf wakes behind some Centurions and MBs.

Thank you all for your answers.
I have had 7 nautiques and would never consider changing brands, but I just wanted to make sure that the G25 wake was not better than the G23.
The luxury of the G23 is having a great wake and a lot of space due to the sub-floor ballasts, which is not the case of any other boats on the market.
          have a great weekend,
          Jeff

just a thought here, and open to correction. if my memory serves correct, the g25 adds approx 18" to the cockpit length and 6" to the bow length of the g23 to gain is additional two feet of LOA (thought i remembered reading that somewhere, but could be a pipe dream). they both have a 102" beam. assuming that the running surfaces are the same, only stretched from mid line forward, it should only take 500lbs of extra ballast in the aft of the g25 to counter its additional 500lbs forward and to make its running surface/attitude behave like that of the g23 when on plane.

You are correct in regards to where the extra length is placed. It does still affect the wake though...my opinion, from riding both of them stock

cool. not questioning that. just seems like something that could be overcome by moving weight aft...again, based the assumption that the running surfaces are the same under the water line....
