10.5mph and the camera makes the wave look smaller than it was too

Here are a few pics of the Port side wave during a surf contest they used my boat for last summer. Not the best angle for viewing the height and shape of the wave, but you can see that it's good enough for competition.

I'd also be interested to learn opinions between these two options. I know this is a Nautique forum, but I'd love some objective views on the Malibu 23 LSV vs the G23, especially a LSV equipped with surf-gate.

My guess is the LSV will produce a nice, big, long wake. Maybe not up to the G23 with it's amazing size and ballast capacity, but my guess would be it would out perform a 2012-2013 210...?

                  thanks!

I just traded an LSV for a G23.. with a lot of extra ballast, it throws a great wake - but it needs a bunch of extra ballast. I wouldn't compare it to a 210 as it's a MUCH bigger boat... very similar size-wise to a 230.

Surf people seem to love the brands that wakeboarders don't love that much.. Tige and Centurion mostly.

I have not surfed behind an LSV, but a G23 is not the boat i would purchase if you surfed most of the time.

What boat would you purchase if you surfed all the time?

I surf all the time. I am getting a 2012 210. I've seen 210's with terrible surf waves and some with great surf waves. Gotta know how to weight and drive.

With that being said, by my experience riding behind many different brands, my top five list (boats that I've surfed behind):

                          1. Nautique 230
                          2. Centurion Enzo 233
                          3. Malibue LSV
                          4. Nautique 210 (newer models)
                          5. Tige' 2001 21V (old boat but very nice wave)

I have not ridden behind the Supreme 226 but it's supposed to make a great wave. I rode behind a Tige' Z3 last summer... wasn't impressed, especially after all the hype leading up to it.

F725 - please send me a PM if more appropriate, but can you explain how to best weight a 230? currently i have (on top of factory), 750 in each locker, the arrow sac in the ski locker (next to driver's seat), and the bow sac). approx. 2700 lbs extra. we normally ride in water that is 5-12', so it may be impossible, but i'd love to know the setup for deep water.

dh0125, I wish I could help you. Unfortunately, I've only ridden behind a 230 a few times and had no hand in adding ballast or even have any knowledge of what was being used. I do know that the shape of the wake was something that really suited my riding style. The lake depth does play a huge part as you know. I ride on lakes that average 30-50 feet deep so I don't have to worry.

thanks for the reply. good reason to just keep experimenting on/behind/in the boat until we find the perfect setup
