Owner of a Model Year 2001 Super Sport with Guage Question

    Hi,

I have the Teleflex digital guages on my new (to me) 2001 Super Sport. The boat was carefully cared for and the owner and dealership both claim that the boat never had the guages replaced. The boat, I was told, had around 50 hours on it.

However when I put the boat in the water last weekend, the guage reported 0 hours.

We ran the boat for 2 hours and after we were done for the day, the guage still just reported the 2 hourse we had ran the boat for.

So I am wondering if there is like an "elapsed" engine hours and a TOTAL engine hours and where that information is located. I looked through every page of the manual and could not find this information anywhere.

    Thanks for your help,
    Erik

RE: Owner of a Model Year 2001 Super Sport with Guage Questi

Yea you might want to get that checked out, if you really care. My PP says I have 180 hrs because I installed it 180 hrs ago. And my regular hour guage says I have 410. The boat actually has about 850 I think. Its a 2001 SAN with the digital guages and they were reset when a starter was replaced with the previous owner. I can't answer your question though, I am pretty sure a nautique dealer can hook up some diagnostic device that gives all sorts of info on the engine. All I care about is that my GT-40 is the smoothest engine I have ever felt on my lake.

Alan do you own the reverse blue SAN that I looked into buying about a month ago? Gorgeous boat. You are keeping her?

        Erik,

I wouldn't be surprised if the guage is bad. The 2001s had lousy
guages. I am on my 4th set. I've lost hours, speedo, and tach
        at various times.

I was original owner, and so there was a lifetime warranty on
guages. Not sure what the policy is for second owners.

Every time I get a new guage, hours go back to zero. I'm currently
at 125 hours, but I know there are 350 on the boat. I'm told that
the computer knows how many hours are actually on the boat, but
I've never tried to have anyone check it out.

          Erik,

If you need help with warranty issues talk to Bill Reig brieg@tflx.com at teleflex, he has been very helpful. My 01 San has the guages burnt out and he is sending out new ones. I am also a little nervous about the engine hours because I bought "3rd hand " with 117 hrs on the meter. I am planning to take it to the dealer to have it checked though. Goog luck.

I think some GM engines have an hour memory, however, I was told by PCM that the Ford based engines (GT-40) do not.
I'm on gauge set #2, but only because of some fogging when it was left outside at the dealer during a rain.
