WetSounds / Z5 SOLUTION!!

As everyone knows, the wetsounds tower speakers will not fit in the stock location if the boat also has a Z5 bimini. Z5 has come up with a great solution for the problem! They custom fabricated some front mounts and longer strut arms which lowered the whole bimini by a little over 2 inches. This way, the bimini is still level (if not slightly lower in the front) and the pivot feature of the bimini still works as well as the pivoting board racks. It actually looks a lot better than I expected it to. Here are some pics.

If anyone is looking at doing this, I highly recommend calling Z5 and have them send you out some of the lowering brackets. It is a terrific solution and very easy install.

that is awesome but dont you think that nautique should realize that ALOT of their customers purchase aftermarket wetsounds and just start using them factory?

For those of you saying that Nautique should offer this from the factory, keep in mind that the Z5 is sent directly to the dealers from Z5, not from the Correct Craft factory. If anyone should modify the design, it is Z5, not Nautique. Nautique doesn't build these biminis.

At some point last year when my dealer asked a similar question of Nautique, the factory said they didnt know what "Wetsounds" were...I called shananigans on that....

2 inches lowering may not seem like a lot, but on the already low Z5 it was noticable to me....

Personally, I like the lower Bimini anyway. The shade is much needed here in Houston. Of course I'm only 5' 6", but I can still stand up under it.

Me thinks Nautique should offer a wetsounds sound package...Regardless of what dealer get's from who.

I have some insider knowledge...

Nautique knows all about wetsounds.

In truth the Pro 696 6x9 tower speakers and a full compliment of interior speakers were designed for the Byerly icon edition super air before it was released. During the final development of that offering Nautique eliminated the Wetsounds equipment in lieu of a more economical, inferior Roswell/Polk solutions.

This is consistent with Nautique development/engineering/marketing. They know very well how to mold fiberglass into shapes that form highly functional wakes. When it comes to plumbing, electrical, audio, and lighting systems well... not so much.

Because I don't want to be beat up (too much) I will just say i agree with above post. My sense of it is that Nautique is primarily a marketing company. I agree they are good boats, but my personal feeling is that any company with the dough can make a shovel nose heavy boat, and ask flyhigh to make a custom sac to fit.

I am looking to upgrade tower speakers and am glad to see the upgrade to allow for wetsounds speakers. Question is though, does the upgrade allow for rev10's or 8's?

Mine are rev8s, but I can measure and let you know if the 10s will fit. I have a friend who has the rev10s without the custom z5 bracket and he was able to make them fit, but not in the stock location.
