2006 220

Hello Everyone

My good friend is looking to join the Nautique family. He's looking at a 2006 220, any insights of this year and model? I have a SV 211 and we love to wakeboard and have really enjoyed wake surfing...I'm assuming the 220 would be better suited for wake surfing with the deep hull. Please let me know if you have and thoughts or suggestions..

I loved the 220 for surfing. For wakeboarding, it has a little bit of a reputation for being particularly picky about being balanced side-to-side in order to keep the wake clean, but it is a good boat and a solid performer.

I just got my 07 220 at the end of last year but I love it so far. Good wake boarding wake at 22-23 pretty good surf wave at 11-12, I just need about 400 more pounds on surf side and it should be a pretty good size wave. Rides really good.

The 220 is a great boat IMO. It was the first Nautique I ever rode in (I was in grad school in Austin and took a group lesson on a 2007 220). We rode it ballast tanks empty and the wake was still outstanding for my beginner-intermediate skill level. After that day in a 220, I decided my next boat would be a Nautique. A year after I graduated, I purchased my 2008 SANTE.

Only thing about the wakeboarding wake, learn to ride fast (takes some speed to clean it up.....24.5 mph + is what I've heard/experienced) and the wake can be finicky side to side. Its a very nice wake though....loads of pop.

Migs - cool, didn't know Steward rode behind a 220 sometimes.....his segments behind the G are straight up insane. I still cannot figure out why he doesn't ride on the PWT.....not technical enough I guess. Very fun to watch ride though....guy goes enormous.

Wineguy - I would have no problem if I were you steering my friend towards a 220. Since they are a discontinued boat, you can find great deals on them. IMO, its a lot of boat for the money in the used boat market - the boat does not require a lot of ballast to get a big wake and at 22 feet, its a good sized boat (bridging the gap between the 210 and 230). I almost wish Nautique still offered a 22' boat. The only reason why I chose my 2008 210 SANTE over a 220 is for resale - otherwise I would have grabbed a 220.
