All 2011- SRT vehicles sport the 6.4L Hemi. This is the newest version of the SRT engine the first being the 6.1. The 6.4 makes between 470 and 475 depending on which vehicle configuration it is in. This is the nostalgic 392ci displacement. It also features VVT and MDS(the system that allows it to run on 4 cylinders under light load automatic equipped vehicles). The 6.1 did not have either of those two features.
My uncle is a lead block engineer at Chrysler in engine development. The 6.4 is basically indestructible on the dyno. The tests they do are crazy as well as cool to know what the engines can survive.
Watch out for the 2014 Model year because it is supposed to be getting a big huffer on top and power output will be drastically higher. It's currently in the test cells with the blower on it.Zach@n3boatworks.com

Zach, thanks for the post, cool info. FWIW, we've been very impressed with the 5.7 in our D R/T, 19.5 mpg avg @ 70+mpg travel avg over 530 miles! And hilly terrain...Ours has the VVT and MDS, I kept trying to keep the "eco" light on during our trip, but it's too fun to boot it to get past the left lane dozers...2008 230 TE-ZR6

I'm not sure if I was supposed to leak the supercharger info yet Mil. haha. What year is your D R/T? My favorite truck I've ever owned was my red 99 R/T Dakota. On to bigger better and newer things I now have a 2010 1500 Ram 5.7 with 3.92 gears. I am as impressed as you with my 5.7. Highway trips if im right at 70 mph I will average 20-21 MPG. When I first picked it up I took a hurry trip and averaged 82 mph from Indy to Washington DC. Averaged 18.9 Mpg for that trip.
The New R/T Durango is one of the best looking SUV's Chrysler has produced. If I were buying one for practicality I would go with the Durango over the jeep for interior space.Zach@n3boatworks.com

I think beyond the towing aspect of things thats a pretty big boat an I'm sure requires it to be backed pretty far down the ramp into the water. I've used pickups and suv's to tow and launch boats. By far prefer the pickup. I've had to back a boat pretty far down a long ramp and had to almost submerge the rear bumper of the suv in the water praying no wakes came through and pushed the water up, flooding the cargo area of the suv.** Be Not Afraid **

But it baffles me that there's no weight distributing hitch since per Jeep's own specifications anything over 5,000lbs needs one. False advertising?

For some reason I can not wrap my head around that picture. I still think its total BS. That is one heavy azz boat to be hooked behind a mid-size SUV, no matter if it had a viper v-10 in it, it should set that jeep on its bump stops. I think the G23 is pushing the Jeep down the road. I bet that is one fun ride on a steep wet ramp backing it in.2008 210 SAN TE (Moonraker Yellow over Midnight Blue)

Im pretty sure its a magnum trailer. Its looks the same as the one mine came on. Still dont know how they hooked it up my truck is a 350 with a 4.5" lift and the trailer rode level with no drop hitch.

For jeep to be advertising the SRT pulling a 7200lb ish boat they must have some confidence in it.....I will be soon towing my G23 with our 2013 Grand cherokee with Hemi and tow package. It towed our RZ2 around no problem but it was probably 1200lbs less then the G23.

Good luck with that. Your G23 will be driving your Grand Cherokee. Horsepower isn't the issue. It's vehicle weight, wheel base and stopping power. Hope have a straight short drive to the dock

How far do you plan to drive your boat with the jeep? If less then 2 miles ok. No highway.
I have a friend that pulls his 22i tige with a 4 runner. Our ramp isn't steep but that boat drags the lock wheels all the way down the ramp until it hits the water then the truck stops.
