    About to order new G25...

    Options I'm thinking about are:
    • 550 hp motor
    • Transom remote (do I want this if I replace what everyone says is crappy stereo? ie do people replace amps/speakers but leave head unit?)
    • Battery maintenance (I know, cheap/easy to install but not worth the small $ savings to me)
    • Bow Armrests
    • Both Covers
    • NSS
    • Both filler cushions
    • Heated seat & heater
    • Std Bimini (like look of Z5 and storage concept but I'm 6'4" tall and it is just too low)
    • Ladder
    • Mirror (is this worth it?)
    • Fire Extinguisher
    • Underwater lights
    • Stern seat
    • Pocket Door

Still working on colors but thinking vapor blue hull, dark blue or black accents, gunmetal flake main stripe w/graphics and white front stripe, grey interior with titanium grey main stripe, gun metal flake beading and white carbono textures. Debating non-skid - like teak look as grey seems awfully drab and I am in red clay country.

Posted separately in stereo section question around replacing stock system/cost etc.

Thoughts on options or stereo appreciated. Also, has anyone driven both a G23 and G25? Thoughts on differences in handling, wake etc.? I like the extra passenger capacity of the 25 and my boat currently has about that amount of space (though smaller bow) so I'm reluctant to give it up and go with smaller G23 unless there are other good reasons (aside from a good chunk of change).

I think that's a pretty good option set up other than the ladder is a waste of money because its not hard AT ALL just to push up onto the platform. And as far as the wake/handling goes I have never driven either so dont know what to tell you there but I remember reading somewhere that because the 25 is longer and displaces differently than the 23 the wakeboard wake isnt as good but the surf wake is better.

The ladder sure helps getting into boat while its on a trailer depending what trailer you get, Ive seen a ladder built into the front tongue.

Both good points on the ladder. Have one on my current boat and rarely used though I have had some older folks on the boat that jumped in to swim and they needed it to get back in so worth having for those rare occasions (or when trailering).

looks like a good setup. I did everything except for the pocket door, ladder, underwater lights, and went with the 450. Its hard to find 93 around our lake. I'm doing shadowcaster underwater lights.

I would leave off the mirror and get a PTMEdge mirror from NautiqueParts.com. Be sure to use our discount code (PND) for 10% off.

Also, the fire extinguisher is mostly offered for the European market. It does NOT exempt you from carrying a separate fire extinguisher in the boat while in the US. It is somewhat unusual to see a US boat with the automatic fire extinguisher installed.

Oh, and you're going to LOVE that 550!! It is an awesome motor!

Thanks. Will check out that mirror. Had the fire system on my 26' chapp and i thought it did fulfill the requirement but I guess I'm wrong. Yeah, I've got basically same motor now on my current boat. They're awesome and since this one's probably 1300 lbs heaver unloaded than my current boat, suspect I'm really going to want the power. What's top end of the boats (G23 or G25) with that motor?

I would ditch the factory underwater lights and get some Shadow Casters. They are much better/brighter IMO. I have had them for about two years trouble free.

Ladder is worth it for older folks.. had lots of visitors who couldn't get up on my old Malibu's platform (no ladder).

****, you're making me feel guilty. Wife & I are both alumns as well (football season ticket holders too though we only get to a few games a year given the distance) and, believe me, I've built a few boats with orange & blue but just can't get myself to pull the trigger given potential resale issues. Yours is very sharp though and very similar to what I built on line (not too much orange). Will have to show your pic to my kids - they'll love it and then I'll end up with an orange and blue one as well!
