Generic surf system

Do you guys think there will be a generic surf system that will fit older boats out within the year? Maybe not as controllable as NSS but ability to push button surf. Or better yet, you think nautique will eventually retro fit older boats??

I would hope that they would. Making that kind of thing work with out a "Linc whatever" can not be that hard, even if it is not quite as "slick" as the new boats. IDK about the "within a year" time frame, but if they don't start doing it it would be a disappointment. Frankly, whether they do or don't I can see the aftermarket providing something very similar in fairly short order. The picture in another thread with the cosmetic cover off showing the plate and piston seems super simple to duplicate. ****, I would buy one for my 206 (provided it's not a gazillion dollars) if it had any measurable impact on helping with wake surfing.

I am pretty sure they will eventually have something available for the original LINC system. Other than that, I am not sure. There is a liability concern if the deployment can be controlled separately from the speed. That's why the LINC integration is so important. If this was to deploy while the boat was moving quickly, it could cause some serious issues.

I'd be happy even if it was a manual deployment like the old wedge. Still easier than emptying and filling bags. Possible?

Just to be clear - i am a little dense on this one. You still have to weight the boat to surf. With NSS, you don't have to empty one side and fill the other side to switch sides. Instead you simply weight both sides in the back, right?

Said another way: I am confused by comment above about "emptying and filling bags", because you still are emptying and filling bags. Just not to switch sides, correct?

That's correct. With the NSS, you can take advantage of ALL of the ballast, not just the ballast on the surf side.

Not only is that an advantage when you are switching sides for regular vs. goofy, but you can also switch between surf and wakeboard with little effort or time.

I understand that the boat Would still need to be weighted But doesn't the surf system also positively affect The size and shape of the wave?

On the big boats where the wave is already awesome it may not matter but on smaller boats I think it could result in a better wave. Agree or disagree?
