Looking to buy a used 230 but have some questions on linc, etc.

I'm looking at buying a used 230 mostly because that's what I can afford. I sold my SANTE 220 18 months ago with the intent of buying a 230 until the G23, G25 came out but I just can't afford that much boat right now.

Went to the Utah boat show yesterday (they didn't have a 230 there) and the national Nautique rep told nobody was ordering 230s anymore because everyone wants the G23 and G25. He also told me they could retrofit a 230 with the wakegate system as long as it has the linc system already.

I'd love the option of the wakegate system but no knowing how much it costs for the retrofit or knowing if it's even worthwhile I'm in a dilemma.

I'm worried about buying a 230 if nobody wants them for resale value. That being said, I didn't have any problems selling my 220 when they'd stopped making them.

Is the linc system worth holding out for when buying a 230? How can I tell a boat has the linc system buy just looking at it? When did linc come out and what does it do?

From my research, I can get a very nice 230 for the mid to upper $60k range right now.

After using the Linc on a regular basis, I wouldn't go without if i were buying. You'll notice immediately if a boat has the Linc, as there will be a screen where the gauges are normally placed.

what is the connection between link and wakegate (do you mean hydrogate?). I thought that hydro gate was controlled by a lever and they all had them?

I thought Linc was electronics for like progreamming riders preferences,et c.

I think the 230's will still have a big market. There are not a lot of people who can afford a 130K boat.... And it's only a matter of time before aftermarket companies make a version of NSS.
That said, I have an 09 230 that I am selling if you are interested.

I think at this point I'm going to hold out for a 2010 230 with Linc so that way I can have it retro-fitted with the NSS (which I'm guess means Nautique Surf System?). I found an extremely nice 2009 230 here locally but it doesn't have linc and I think now I need to hold out for that.

Definitely go with a boat with Linc. It makes life so much easier when pulling people and it adds a nice look to the boat.

You will need to get into a 2012 with linc for NSS to work. Must be Linc 2.0.

I think as long as you have Zero off, it doesn't get much easier for pulling someone...
And I can say I've been in a boat when the linc failed, and we had no gauges when that happened. I'm sure that it is very reliable, but when everything is in one screen, I would just feel better having gauges to tell me what's going on.

We experienced one Linc 2.0 failure, and ironically it was the first time out in the boat. The solution was as simple as turning the system/power off with the dial under the footwell, and flipping it back on for a reboot. I'm sure there are worse case scenarios out there, just wanted to pass on our experience.

if they did the Linc, with back up gauges somewhere, maybe even hidden somewhere so at least you had a redundant system - maybe that would be something to think about.
The link is neat tech for sure.

His point wasn't that the 2012 LINC where there is no gauges is better he was just trying to point out that the NSS requires LINC 2.0
