SN 200 Short lake setup advice

Looking to upgrade to a SN200.*
Would like some feed back on short setup around 1800' long full 6 balls course*with a Ski Nautique 200 (near sea level)

    343 (5.7 w/1868, 654, 422 prop)
    *vs*
    409 (6.0 w/654, 422, 668 prop)

Which combo has the best*acceleration engine and prop without ripping off your arms and still skis good?

Is there that much difference is acceleration pulling a skier?

    Have a 196 w/5.7 - 330hp now*

Is the 409 worth the extra $$*

I would ask this same question on ball of spray.

No the 6.0 is not worth the extra money in my opinion. My boat with the 1868 is very quick and skis great. As I mentioned in my message to you last night on BOS I will send you some data tomorrow after I install the new prop. I'm thinking I'll take some acceleration times to 36 with both props and let ya know.

Call Jody at Florida Inboards, he"s a Pro Tour Driver and used to work at the factory. I'd bet he's tried all of those combos and more. I think he goes by Team Seal here.

We have 3 6.0s including a Mapple but we use them for jump as well. So cant chime in about the 343. Parrish, Smith & KC Wilson seem to do fine behind them

That looks like a nice lake where abouts is that?

The 343 with the stock prop is plenty for an 1800' lake. My 200s with 343s have been just as fast as 196s out of the hole. Top speed is a little less, but that's not your concern.

I havent lined up a 343 powered boat against a 409, but seat of the pants they feel pretty similar coming out of the water. Jody has said that the 343 holds a slight advantage out of the hole, and that wouldnt surprise me. The strength of the 6.0L is all north of 3500rpm.

The shorter the prop, the faster the boat will come out of the hole. Of the ones you listed (1868, 654, 422) the 1868 has the least amount of pitch (14.25) and should accelerate the quickest. A 1458, 1598 or a 430 would make the boat even quicker... but will cause revs to be higher throughout the RPM band.

That all said, Im a huge fan of the 6.0L. I barefoot and care about top speed though, which are 6.0L strong suits.
