02 SANTE- removing the stock tanks , can I reuse the pumps?

    Hi guys,

removed my hardtanks in my 02 SANTE and I am looking to go the tankbuster route (700s)

on the wakemakers.com website they claim it's a plug and play deal, I guess that means I can reuse my old pumps? how does this translate in the real world? am I going to have problems emptying? slow fill times?

what should I do? I haven't pulled the trigger yet so I can still add pumps to my order if necessary

    thanks in advance guys!

Pretty sure they mean plug-and-play if you leave the original tanks in and put theirs on top, routing the overflow hose into the bags as the fill/empty and running a new line from the bags to the overflow in the hull. Removing the tanks will require remounting the pumps somewhere, and since in your boat there is a fill pump and an empty pump for each tank, that'll be a pain.

I removed the rear tanks and replaced with 700's in my boat. Make sure you add a bow sac or you won't be able to fill the back bags up much without the boat porpoising out of control. I reused the stock aerator pumps for the bags in the back. They're pretty slow if you're fully filling or emptying the bags. I'd say at least 10 minutes for a complete fill. If my budget was bigger I would have gone for reversible impeller pumps. As it was I spent at least $800 on the project without new pumps in the stern. For the bow sac I integrated under the seats I added an impeller pump and tee'd it off the intake for the belly pump. I had to cut the cooler out of the starboard bow seat which is a trip.

sorry I forgot to mention , it is the tankbuster kit from wakemakers!

so mister Mayotte, you are saying it's a go for the stock pumps? fill time isn't critical! thanks alot

Does your 2002 have separate fill and drain pumps for each rear tank like the 2003/2004 or is it a single fill and single drain pump like the 2000 & 2001?

If you have all the separate pumps you are set. Get your sacs, screw in or adapt the drain pumps to the rear bottom hole in the sac, hook the fill line to the front bottom hole and the vent to the front top hole. Then use the seacock valves to keep the sacs from draining themselves back out through the fill pumps.

If you have a setup like my 2000, you're just better off drilling more holes in the hull.

Wakemakers is selling a line of sacs that come with 1" npt fittings. If you get those sacs, you can screw in a 1" to 3/4" adapter then those aerator pumps (typically Attwood 750s) will screw right in. Later if you get impeller pumps ($$$ but REAL nice) you can just use the 1" ports directly.

I am actually now using 2 impeller pumps to fill my two rear sacs and have aerator pumps screwed into the sacs for draining. I am still using a rule 2000 gph pump to fill my locker and integrated bow sacs (with a set of valves in the locker to control the flows). Each sac has its own 750-800 gph aerator pump for drain (the silly horseshoe shaped Integrated bow sac actually has 2)

Hope this all made some sense

I have a 2002 with separate fill and empty aerator pumps. I just dropped in 750s sacs for the hard tanks and it was a go. I disagree on fill and empty times. I have 1100 GPH Rule pumps and it fills super fast. Much faster than my friends' impeller pumps. It is not user friendly though to fine tune, add or drop ballast to one side. Works well enough for my uses though. I also added a under bow sac by hooking to the belly tank overflow. Go for it.

It's a go for stock pumps. I don't know know what spec pumps I have but they're 10 years old now and aren't spry young pumps anymore but they get the job done albeit slowly.

                  thanks fellas!

tuning the wake is not important as the boat is pretty much dedicated to wakesurf and chilling at the beach/cove

next step if do I cut the fiberglass in the bow to fit a sac..mmmm!!

Yeah the bow sack is super important for a good surf wake. It makes the pocket muuch longer and way more fun so you're not right on top of the swim deck when you pump forward. We usually completely fill the stern sac on the surf side, bow & belly and I "encourage" at least one person to sit up front on the surf side and that really dials it in.

Yeah I usually ride with a 1000# on top of the cushions but I wanna hide the bag and get rid of the stupid tsunami pump that is unreliable. Not to mention how the sac is bad for the upholstery, swings around etc.. Maybe I should get one dedicated pump for that bag? Or use the overflow from the center tank? What do you guys think?

                      Thanks again!

I dedicated a pump for it but since the belly pump and bow pump feed off the same intake (I wasn't going to drill a new hole through the hull, eff that) I only fill one at a time. If I were to run the belly & bow pump at the same time the bow impeller pump just overpowers and steals the water. I typically fill the bow to the max then fill the belly underway as it's much quicker than at a standstill.

Again, thanks a lot for your input. I forgot to mention, for some reason I never empty the belly tank so I don't think having a dedicated pump for the bow would steal the water from the belly.

So I guess I made my decision. I will order my stuff from wake makers tonight. Do they still give a discount for pn members? Should I buy the pump from them too?

You don’t trailer with the belly tank full do you? I know the old 210s and probably most v-drives don’t porpoise and cruise smoother with some weight in the belly so I assume that is what you mean by never emptying the belly?

The wakemakers discount code worked for me at the beginning of last summer. I have heard that the website won’t always accept it but if you call they should honor it. Their prices always seem good so I don’t see any reason not to order the pump from them too.
