Regarding prop review

Luke,
thanks for the info on the prop review. The more weight I add to my boat the more I've been thinking I need to change props.
What about a stainless prop, would it make any difference? Also when you say poor top speed, how fast we talkin' empty?

Personally I would stay away from stainless steel props. The reason I have tired three props this season is because I have dinged 2 of them. One was on a rock and one was on a foot long stick about 1 1/2” – 2” in diameter. The prop was damaged, but fortunately the drive shaft and alignment weren't messed up. I had considered going with a stainless steel prop, but after the rock incident I'm glad I didn't have one. I think it would have caused much more damage to my boat rather than simply having the prop reworked.

I don’t pay very much attention at all to top speed, but I think with no ballast and about a ½ tank of gas I was running at about mid-high 30s with RPMs hitting around the 4 mark.

I'm with Luke 100% on this one. Stainless steel might offer slightly improved performance, but if you were to hit anything, you'd be replacing shafts, etc. instead of just a propeller. I'd stick to the nibral Acme props.

Jeff, Looking at your profile pics I noticed you have a tower mounted mirror, do you like it? any problem folding the tower down?

I like it very much. When the mirror was mounted to the windshield frame, it sat crooked. That tower mount is totally adjustable, and is very helpful. I have to fold the tower down every time I put the boat away (I keep it in rack storage), and I haven't had any issues with any of my accessories (mirror, speakers, or lights) causing problems.
