Santa brought me one for xmas.. planning on having lots of fun with it this year.

I got the suction cup mount.. should be able to hang it off the side/back of the boat. Also planning to buy/make a handle/pole for someone sitting out in a tube.

I got the black.. totally cool toy. The quality is awesome.

I got one for x-mas as well. I have had it on my helmet for snowmobiling a few times this year and the quality is amazing. I have heard a few stories about mounts breaking/suction cups coming off and losing them either in the lake or the snow. I bought some of the tethers they sell for extra insurance. I think they also sell a floaty you can use for the lake. Maybe overkill, but I don't think I could stop kicking myself if I lost that little sucker.

I was thinking about fabbing up a mount to attach to the tower. The angle is so wide that I don't think you would need a follower for the rope, but I am sure you could come up with something for that too if you wanted.

I can confirm - the suction cup mount is a bad idea! I already lost 1 GoPro in the lake. The floaty backdoor will NOT float it with the suction cup mount attached.

There's no reason to fabricate a mount to attach to the tower. They already make then. From my experience, though, the video from the tower is not that great because the rider is just too far away.

My wife wears the headstrap mount backwords to video my sets. The pan is so great with the GoPro that it works out well. This summer though, we may spring for the pylon mount.

We have two and they are great. We also have the wifi and it helps. Last year, my hero2 w/wi-fi saved the day on the job. I built a stalkable lance out of PVC pipe and sent the camera into to some special tubulars I was having welded and the welds polished. I captured the video w/help of the phone then viewed the video in HD on my notebook. The contractor had a crap camera and old crt and was saying the welds were perfect. But I couldn't see crap on his so I went and bought the second gopro (i was out of town) and proved him wrong.

We have most of the mounts and they have their purpose. Note the comment above the orange floaty back is only enough for the minimal camera. add anything and it sinks. So most of our loose mounts and handles we've made are all from sealed PVC that floats. We test everything in the tub first to be sure it floats.

Note the field of view is probably too wide for mounting on the tower. But we may try that this spring.

I will try to link some video of and from a board or skate. But here is a video my son made at Schlitterbahn. All video from the gopro....both POV and from the stands. The boy in the video was rockin' so we asked if we could make a video of him.

Was going to use some of these with the suction cup mount. Not taking chances.

                    Simple solution.. a leash!

This guy on youtube (who is a wakeboarder) has some GREAT gopro tips.. this is just his GoPro videos - he's got a LOT more.

I am probably going to mount mine on my tower and rig some swivel thing so it acts like the tower cam only better. I also have flat mount on my board that I can get some sweet shots with. Sorry about the crappy photo quality couldn't find the original had to resort to Facebook.

GoPro's are awesome but utterly worthless to shoot with from the boat. Unless you're surfing. Get another camera if you want footage from the boat, and use the GoPro from a tube, a second rider with a pole, mounted on your board/ski, etc.

True. I will probably do the same thing only with a DSLR then.
