My build- 2002 SANTE - audio, interior and ballast

Hey guys, here’s what I have been working on lately in the man cave
    2002 SANTE ,600hrs
I had originally planned to redo the entire upholstery but when the guy came over he told me I’d be better off just redoing a few seat cushions because the rest was in pretty good shape for it’s age.The guy couldn’t believe I had taken everything apart... live and learn!! I will add more pictures along the way but as of now, there is not a single square inch of upholstery left in the boat!!
    Audio:
The old inboat speakers we’re cutting it anymore, the bass was so so and I really wanted a mic.
I was lucky enough to have Odin from www.earkmarkcaraudio.com help my out with my nonstop questioning.

I ended up buying the following items from Earmark
    6x Wetsounds XS-650 inboat speakers
    1 Wetsounds WS420 equalizer
1 Wetsounds 10” free air sub to replace the old kicker one.
1 Wetsounds Syn6(thanks to viSor on the board)

I removed my Roswell tower speakers to clean them up and to stop banging my head on it while working

That should do it for the sound system, I will not win any sound off competitions at the beach but it should be plenty to have a good time while surfing (and shouting at boneheads with the ws420)

    Next up, ballast!

I decided it was time for me to get rid of the factory hard tanks. We use the boat for surfing and going to the local hang out spot so I figured I would kill two birds with one stone, more weight and more storage on the other side.

I started talking with the nice folks over at www.wakemakers.com , looking to purchase their tankbuster kit. They were super helpful with (again..!) all of my questions. I went with the 750 bags , using the existing aerator pumps. I did not receive the parts yet, can’t wait to hook it up!

Once the tanks were removed , I removed the old stained carpet. As you can see, towards the end of the boat you will find a small nook (which probably accommodated the empty pump). I decided to block it off to make a nice level floor for the bags /storage. I made a template out of sheating. I then used a left over piece of 5/8’’ thick cutting board ( I am a GC so I often stumble upon such nice little things!). I will also use that material to do the panel between the engine bay and the storage. I had to order another sheet, costs around 100$cdn.

I redid the carpet , pics to follow.

This is it, I will update as more progress is being made, thanks for reading

Agreed on the credits, much are due to visor and all of my questioning about audio components and shipping methods for us Canadians.

Thanks for the tool comments, don't you wish you had big boy tools that you could paint that color!! Long story short, my grandfather who started the company started painting the tools that color.. No way anyone was gonna steal a pink tool in the 70s!!

I figured I'd give it a try with the proper amp and go from there.. Of course money is always the main factor.. There's always next year right lol

I see you've got your second battery currently in the port locker. Are you leaving that as is? Any plans for extra protection from the new sack you're going to drop in?

Good question. I was thinking about building a box out of marine plywood covered in carpet. I might move the secondary battery underneath the rear bench, I am not sure yet. I am going nuts, I can't wait to receive all the goodies and start installation

                carpeted

not the exact match but I do not really care as it will be covered with vests and sacs

should I keep the existing wiring or bump the quality/size?

Is a group 31 deep cycle battery overkill for my audio needs?should I stick to standard size? I have one battery for cranking and the other one would be for when we are at the beach. I have a perko switch.

I think you might have to make the speaker holes bigger for the in-boat wetsounds.

The battery recessed into the floor? Is this factory? My 02 sante has the battery in the bow.

I believe my interior is a late 02 production which has many 03+features such as ballast system etc.

Last night I fabricated a mounting plate to relocate the second amp and I mounted the syn6.keep in mind I don't know much about audio so I tagged every single wire that was hooked up to amp1 and amp2 before taking it apart.. Oh and also 20 pictures later..! Due to the size of the syn6 I decided to mount the second amp underneath the glove box, giving me more space to connect the wires on the bling bling syn6.

I also cleaned up the job site, do you guys have any recommendations for a good carpet cleaning product? There's a few stains on the floor, I know I won't make it look brand new but I guess a bit of lovin' wouldn't hurt

                          old setup

not so smart but not that dumb,

duct tape ftw, best helper out there when you try to fit something

                          amp is so dizzy

how i fixed the cutting board, i love that stuff. 4 screws , pre drilled a bigger hole so the thread wouldn't make the glove box crack. applied silicone to the back of the cutting board ( scratched it real good with a razor blade before for added adhesion)

                          that bling

                          cleaned up the job site

Looks great. I also have a 02, but mine was a super sport that I added the tower, sound system, ballast system (4 pumps and seven bags), keyed override (allows to start if the keypad fails on the water), three extra bilge pumps, hot water shower, etc. I am currently working on the heater, building a box with a quick connect for the hoses and ties into the factory wiring. There are three "fly high three way diverter valves" also in the box to allow for filling the sacs in the cabin without having to use the manual Tsunami pump. Let me know if you have any questions specific to this year.
