Ya this weather is terrible (at least in Ohio). Did you order yours with out the stereo ? I tried to do that but he said it would basically be the same price with or with out the stereo (head unit and interior speakers) ? I did not get the tower speakers or amp set up. I would of liked to put a Bluetooth head unit in so I can use my iphone music wireless and im going with wetsounds interior and tower anyway so its basically a waste of money. Let me know what you did I would think I still have time to change this if its an option. Thanks

For future reference to others here, do NOT get the tower prep package. Originally we (Buxton Marine and I) thought it was the amp + wiring the tower. Turns out its JUST the amp you're paying something like $1,100 for! Buxton checked into it for exact details for me and Air Nautique confirmed they wire the tower no matter what stereo option you order, including no extra option.

Same on the battery maintainer. Its a $371 option and all they do is sell you a ProMariner maintainer you can get on Amazon or any number of places for right at $100. Now, you could say its worth ~$270 to have it installed for you, but its only 2 wires. And for anyone do a big stereo with extra batteries, this maintainer isn't the right answer for you anyhow.

I'm all for paying tons of markup for cool and proprietary stuff like NSS, a $2,300 reversible seat, an $1,100 pocket door, and let's be honest, the G23 in general. But when I can get the exact same part off of 100 internet sites for 1/3rd the price, I guess I'm too much of a cheapa$$ to severely overpay.

              Regards,

              Dusty

Completely agree w dusty 100%! I tried to cancel tower prep package during build and couldn't unfortunately. Both very overpriced (I know, I know g23 expense).

What exactly is the battery maintenance thing? Just an easy way to plug in the batteries to recharge them? Also at what level of additional stereo equipment do you guys recommend adding a third battery? I was originally going to pass on the pocket door since I don't really use it often but would i use it more if it were easier to use? I don't usually extend the season so I'm not out when its really chilly. Maybe for resale? Oh and does anyone know how much the Nautique action cam is as an option and is it worth it? Thanks guys, tons of help for this Nautique Newbie!

Dusty that's exactly why I didn't get the tower prep kit all I wanted was the wires anyway. I am going to put a aftermarket battery charger in myself on my two addition batteries for the stereo. I did get the automatic fire ext tho did you guys opt for that. I know a fire ext is a lot cheaper but still got it. Wakeslaher def add more batteries if your going big on the stereo. ESP if you do a lot of floating in the party cove! I just put in a battery charger inboard so when I'm done all I have to do is plug it in from a extension cord and its ready for the next day. This way you never have to worry about a dead starting battery !! Pocket door I also went with just for convince and we def do the extended seasons so we get a lot of use from the heaters and pocket door. I did not get the heated seat !

Same here, skipped the tower prep kit and skipped all the tower speakers. Went with two pair of REV10s, WS-420 Equalizer, Amp and even a little LED Dome light integrated onto the underside of the excess rope storage. All for a decent amount less than what I would have paid for the factory stuff.

Correct on the battery maintainer. Anything that is stored for extended time (boats, jet skis, exotic cars, etc.) needs a maintainer or you're coming back to a dead battery. Maintainers provide a 2V trickle charge with auto-off when a battery is full. Fancier maintainers have more options and can support multiple banks/batteries. A super nice one for 4 batters is $400, which is what Nautique is basically charging for a $100 one installed.

If you're running an upgraded stereo (meaning multiple aftermarket amps on top of factory amps) and/or you like to float and play music for extended periods of time, a 3rd/4th battery is a great idea. I've had a LOT of batteries of the years in cars and boats. I've had quite a few big stereos as well. For the boat, my best success, by far, has been with the Kinetic brand. My worst luck has been Optima by a long shot. Total junk IMO. I've had the same 2 Kinetic batteries + 2 stock batteries on 2 different X-stars since April 2007. I rarely plug them in, I pretty much abuse the crap out of them, and they are still going strong.

Pocket door is worth it if you're going to need/use a door to seal off the back half. We will because our season starts early and ends late. I also got the heaters and seat heater option. If you aren't going to seal of the front hardly ever, save the $1,100. That's a ridiculous price for a 2.5ft tall plastic door with a $5 hinge, especially considering its not even a tight seal (2" gap WTF). X-Star includes an aluminum folding door for free. One of the things about the G that was a real turn off.

Action cam I had on my first quote, but at $2,000+ I scratched it. Its way, way overpriced for what you get. For less than $2k I can get an amazing handheld HD camera and a GoPro Hero3 Black, or 2 LOL. When filming from the boat its difficult to get a lot of useable footage from people riding 65-90 feet from the camera position. While anyone buying a G23 can probably honestly say $2k isn't going to kill them, I still look for value in my purchases as I earn every dollar in my (and Nautique's) bank account. I don't have my first quote in front of me but I'm pretty sure it was $2.2 or $2.3k and I just couldn't come close to justifying it. I actually don't know a single person that's ordered this option, although I have no dougt some have.

                        Cheers,

                        Dusty
