Super air 230 TE vs malibu MXZ

    Hi guys,
I am new on this site but I need some help. I had it down to the two boats above. The 230 is a new 2012 and the dealer is putting the NSS on for a smoking deal. Here is my dilemma: on other sites I am being told that the 230 will not hold its value because of the G series and that nautique is going to discontinued or have a watered down(less expensive). On the other sight which seems to be a malibu site but isn't suppose to be that Malibu just flat out builds a better boat and the 230 wake is very finicky. I was so stoked about the 230 but now I'm just confused. Any input would be great appreciated. The Malibu is a 2013 with surf gate. Thanks in advanced.

    SAN 230 = Ferrari
    Mali MXZ = Cadillac

    You decide.

Anyone who tells you a mali is a better built boat just has owners goggles. My dealer sells both mali's & nautique. ITs real easy to see the difference in quality between the 2.

If the other forum is WakeWorld disregard 99.9 % of everything that is posted . Especially if its by Chatwake. No other brand holds its value like Nautique.

Didn't someone - on this site - say the 230 would have a new interior deck layout. If so you may want to strongly consider not getting the old deck layout. People can pooh pooh that all day long. But you know plenty of people - on this site - say to not get the 2007 210 for just that reason; that the new deck layout on 2008 210's is so much better. I also do believe that 210 and 230 will have lower values going forward with g21 coming out, and g23, and g25 out there. It is pretty simple: the 230 used to be the nautique flagship wakeboard boat. It is not anymore, and it won't be for the foreseeable future. I can't really comment on the finicky wake of 230 other then to say that so many have commented on it that i personally do believe it.

As far as holding value I am guessing all makes go down huge in first 5 years. I got my 2008 210 last year for low 40's, and this is not unheard of. I can't comment on quality difference of malibu vs nautique as I am unfamiliar with Malibu. But I will say that I have spent much time on mastercraft's and they are every bit as good as nautique. I believe the rose colored glass thing exists for every make.

I personally like my 210. It is good size, great wake, great seating, great power, etc. I have no complaints. I can get all pissed off that I don't want to spend the dough for the g23. But that's life.

Honestly I would guess that you have all the info you need about the 230. How do you know where mxz will be in malibue lineup in a year or two. If you want to have the premier nautique boat then wait 2 or 3 years and pick up a used g23. May be hard to come by, I don't know.

Best thing for you to do is take comparable year boats for a ride in the roughest water you can find. Even if the rough water is not something youll have to deal with at your lake it will tell you what the boats are made of. Let us know what you find!!

I have owned both a 230 and Malibu lsv. 230 interior finish much better to me. I don't like the carpeted areas on the Malibu vs exposed Fiberglass n 230. Needless to say I've sold both boat and now have a G23. Never considered looking at Malibu again.

I think 230 wake is better. Surf wave on 230 much larger but u need a lot of weight n it

$.02 submitted here but I'm coming out of a Malibu LSV 247 and going into a G23. I did my research on the G23 and MXZ24, so I can't speak to the 230. And in full disclosure the G23 will be my first Nautique but after having a Malibu, which I liked a lot, the Nautique just seems a few notches higher in build quality but at this point its subjective to me. I have MC friends that say go for the Nautique as well. (I had an X2 a few years ago and I'm not going back to MC, but I digress...) I will say that the 230 is a tried and true boat and hull, the MXZ22 is only a year old and the MXZ24 is new this year, probably fine but just sayin. Bottom line, get what works for you and how you use it. Do as much research as you can and talk with those that can take off owners goggles or don't have any to start with.

Im with santelee, Malibu is a good boat no doubt but Nautique is 3 steps ahead for sure. The attention to detail and quality in the 230 is incomparable to the Malibu 23lsv. Before I bought my 230 I was looking at another lsv and after spending sometime on a 230 it was a no brainer. I agree with the comments about the 230 as far as nautique making it cheaper and changing the layout with that said I might wait and either buy a newer version or the 230 or get a used g. Nothing compares to the g, not just the wake, but the detail and quality are unmatched in my opinion !! I have no experenice with the mxz but I will say you will not be disappointed with a 230. Good luck !!

This is a Nautique forum I doubt you will get anyone to recommend a Bu over a Nauti here. If they thought that way they would already own one? I read the G21 is coming out in 2014 that should be around Sept? That might be a good one to wait for. I have not looked seriously into Bu since 09 here are some of the reasons I chose Nautique then.
1-Warranty 5 year overall 3 year power train lifetime hull
2-PCM vs Indmar I think the PCM is easier to work on and more reliable .
3-Engineered not just built. If you look at how the Nautiques are designed everything is thought out before its built . Seats, batteries, ballast, dash and storage are located for best performance and ease of use.
4-Nautiques need less weight to make a good wake you can still slam it but for 90% of riders a little over stock is more than enough. No need for extra bags all over. At 375 a gal it just cost more to move that extra weight.
5-Nautiques are like sports cars on water BUs are like Lincolns. The interior in the BUs is so plush and over done big seats and thick foam yet smaller storage?
Call it owners glasses but to me the Nautique is the brand you upgrade to. Once you own one you dont bother with other brands so much. Maybe I am just over satisfied but after 3 years and 550 hours I'm glad a bought a Nauti
You should post this on the Malibu forum and get the other sides opinions.

Not posting on Malibu site. Going with the 230 and waiting for the NSS kit to get in. Should be ready by first week of April. Should be warm enough then. Can't wait. Heard from reliable source the interior of the 230 could get a revamp within 3-5 years. I can live with that. Thanks for all of you who gave opinion. Appreciate it.

Congrats on your decision, I'm sure you will love the 230! I've heard that the 230 LOVES the NSS and will make a really good wakesurf wake with it.

I have to agree with Hunter. I have been in many a wake/ski boat, and once owning a Nautique, I never looked back. Sure I check out the new stuff, but CC always seems to outdo everyone - and the warranty is great. Also, I have found that it seems resale value is better with CC. I hate the fact I am selling my 230, but even in down grading, I will be looking for an older Correct Craft.... Someone is going to get a real nice boat if they buy mine.... :/
