Coldest water temps for wake boarding

I'm looking to go out on the lake next week to start of the season. How ever the weather has not been on my side and the water temp right now is around 55-60. The air temp will be in the 70's. I have a wet suit but just curious to what the coldest water temps y'all have rode in?

I have trunked it the weekend after Thanksgiving. The water was 63 and the air was 72-75 and I won't lie...it was cold, but once you got up, it actually warmed up and wasn't too bad. I did make the mistake of falling close to the dam on my lake that same day and the temp dropped to 59...needless to say, I told my buddies to get me up quick! You should deffinitely be fine in a suit for those conditions though.

Rode last week. Water was 56, air was 75. Just wore a full 3/2 wetsuit. I HATE cold water and it wasn't that bad.

I rode March 20 last year. in Lake St Clair, Ontario, Canada. The water temp was probably high 30s, low 40s, air was 85 thought

Rode Nov 22 this fall too. Air 50F, Water 41F.

Coldest I've ridden in was 51 with the air in the mid 60;s. Wore a 3/2 full. The only thing cold were my hands and the water was cold enough to give an ice cream headache when I fell.

Delmage, you're a tough mother!!! I can't imagine riding in 30-anything degree water. That's when I'll sit on the beach drinking a beer and dreaming about the butter...

Hats off to Delmage! That's brave...

Coldest for me was last spring, water was 52 with air temps probably mid to low 60's. Just had a 2/1 spring shorty with long sleeves. It was cold when you first got in, but did warm up a bit. My hands got cold fast, which made it tuff to hang on to the handle.

Coldest water was 42. Air temp was 75ish and sun was out. Shorty wetsuit.

i have ridden when it was snowing and our lake was partially frozen over with ice. gosh, i wish i had a picture. i'll have to see if i can find one. We would jump up on the ice and slide across it. It was really really stupid. i do ride through the winter with a drysuit, gloves, hat, and no falling! I have learned the hard way that even with draining the hard tanks each time, they still can crack under cold temps in the winter. as you can readily see. i am not very smart and lack a brain...

^^^^ "i am not very smart and lack a brain...." LOL.

Rode 4-5 weeks ago in 46 degree water, 52 degree air here in NC. Had an Oneil Boost drysuit (worth every penny) and gloves...too cold for falling (ie. face/head gets wet and ice cream headache sets in), but wasn't too cold for "taking it easy" riding (no falling).

you guys are crazy. My boat stays winterized on Lake Norman until well after the dogwoods have bloomed. My kids have some shorty wet suits they wear early in the season but 46? Heck anything less than 65-70 is really cold especially if the air is cold!

I have friends in the Northwest that ride year round, I"ve seen video in 28 Air and 32 Water. The Air is the biggest thing if your not using a dry suit. My 12 year old will go in near 60, but he turns blue even though he claims it alright. I won't use a full wet suit below 60, but I know some people that use a spring suit at 60. The warmer the air the better you will be, timing is the key. We hit the water in the winter about 1:00 on days above 60, if you wait much longer the old people start cruizing around. Even though is usually a bit chilly on the first ride, your good till about 4:30 when the shadows start to get long.

Water here is about 50.. air is getting up in the high 60s on a good day. I suspect Lion90 and I will be in the lake in the next couple of weeks with wetsuits - though they usually only get worn for a week or two, then it warms up FAST.

Use to go every New Years Day on Lake Keowee in SC. Water would be around 50 and air temp would vary but we wanted to start the year right. The rule now is water and air both above 60 and we will ride. We will de-winterize the boat next week after spring break.

If your lake isn't frozen, you better be riding! Staring out at the frozen tundra for 4 months in MN is brutal.
Last year we hit the lake on ice out. Water was low 40's and temp was low 30's. Had just snowed the night before!
Never a day wasted on the lake here!

Back in the UK we broke the ice to ride. Water was 38, air was 32! That was cold! But nothing a 5/3 suit followed by a shower can't fix!
