    220 surf wake????? Need help!!!

So we are considering trading in the 226 for a 220. Our 226 is an 03 and builds an awesome goofy side wake. Our family is all goofy!!! Looking at an 07 and an 08 up at Buxton and found out that those boats have a left hand rotation and build a better wake off of the port side. My question is should I hold out and find an 06 for a better wake for my family or is there not really that much difference? Thanks for your help! Also if you have a nice 06 220 for sale let me know! I'd like a zr6 boat like our 226. It will be for sale too.

My only 220 experience is with an 07 and I can tell you that the port surfing wave is amazing. Nice and big and a huge pocket but there was also lots of extra ballast on top of factory. We are all regular so I have not seen what the starboard side looks like. An 06 would probably be ideal for you but with how good the wave is I bet even with fighting prop rotation that the "bad" side would still be really good. I guess the only way to find out is to try it out and make sure it works for your family.

I have a 2007 220 that we got at the end of last season. I ride goofy as well, surf wave with stock ballast and one other person in the boat beside the driver is not bad. S kelly200 is right the boat needs some extra weight over stock. Im going out next week and am going to add about 300 in the bow plus 300 on the starboard side over stock. ill take some pictures and let you know how it is. Ive heard its really good with extra weight so I'm crossing my fingers.

The guys at Buxton say a fly high sac for an Enzo fits in rear locker and under side bench seat. Looked them up and they are 1400 lbs of ballast. If we do the trade I'm going to try it and see what she'll do.

the first picture is our 07 220 at 11.6 the second picture is at 11. This is with only 200lbs in the bow 200 on starboard side and 3 people on the boat on top of stock ballast. Im not that good at surfing yet but i could ride at 11 with no rope all day but had to ride about 4ft off of the platform. I feel theres a lot of potential with wave at 11.6, just need a little more experience.

Thanks!!! We pick up the 220 this week up at Buxton. Cant wait to see what she will do. The 226 worked best with just the side tank filled and nothing in the center. I have an 1100 lb sac that we used in it that Im going to see how full we can get. Someone makes a custom sac for them that will fill the rear locker and under the bench on the sides. Should be a bunch of weight and I have heard that weight helps them. Ill follow up after water warms up. Thanks again!!!

06 has the same transmission as a 07 & newer. They changed tranny's in 06.
Port & starboard surfwake a good/excellent with a bit extra weight (also in the front).

Please correct me if I am wrong but I am almost positive that only the classic 210 got the new transmission in 06. It wasn't introduced to the rest of the lineup until 07. There may have been a few late 06s that got the new transmission but I think most if not all 2006 models (except 210) didn't get the new PCM transmission until 07.
