    piggy back ballast instructions

i ordered some rear and front ballast for my 2012 210 and plan on doing some of leg work b4 the kits get here. does anybody have some instruction on what needs to be done or what takes the most time.

from what i can see from other pics, the rears you remove the overflow from the hard tank end and install the fitting that goes on the bag. then the new supplied hose goes from the hard tank overflow to the fill on the bag. taking a quick look at the hard tank all connections look very easy to get to, a heat gun might make it much easier to remove hose and install fitting.

the front seems a little more involved. what needs to be removed to get at the hoses? where is the vent and fill line on the belly hardtank? is it going to be same procedure?

If you look on FatSac.com there are directions with photos http://fatsac.com/PDFs/NautiqueAditional%20Ballast.pdf

On the rears, as you mentioned, the factory overflow hose becomes the fill line for the new sac. All you have to do is cut that hose and install a 90 degree fitting to the "fill port" on the new sac (located along the rear facing side of the sac at the bottom. With the sac you'll be able to eye ball ust how much hose to leave after cutting off the rest of the vent -- too little and it won't reach the fill port! Then, the remaining hose gets connected to the upper "vent port" fitting on the sac. I used the rear most fitting on the top of the bag to make the internal air path as short as possible. The challenge for me was wedging my shoulders and torso into position in the rear locker to work on cutting the factory hose at a length to creat a direct and tight route for the sac fill line. You'll need extra hose clamps.

The belly sac installation is also a contortionist's excercise. What I did was reach up under the helm to the vent thru-hull fitting (IMPORTANT: there are two fittings -- one for the bilge, and one for the belley tank, so make certain you know which is which.) then simply disconnect that line from the thru-hull fitting, and route it to the fill port on your belly sac. (Bottom fill, top vent). That's what I did any ways. . .

I helped a friend do his this weekend and it took about an hour. Suggest use soap/water to help the hoses slip on the fittings instead of the heat gun.
