    Putting my flame suit on

    Tubing question

I have kids who want to ride the tube. For the first time I realized there is no "hook" to attach a rope on the back. There is the eyelet for hoisting the boat. Can I pull a tube off the eyelet?

That's the lifting ring, it's meant for vertical lifts, not horizontal pressure. This is what I was told by the dealer. I have seen guys tie off there with a tube and not visibly damage anything though. I'm curious what the general consensus is for this as well.

I have pulled from the tower before!! If its a small tube you should have no problems.

eyelets are for vertical lifting but as mentioned a single tube should be fine. I also pull a single tube off the tower. Anything bigger and I really don't want to use my boat. Those things put a LOT of stress on what they're attached to.

I had to read that twice. When I read "attach a rope on the back" I was thinking life jacket.

The "tube" that we have is really more like a raft for three people.

What boat do you have? Mine is a 2010 210 SANTE and we I have a pop up eyelet on the transom - works great for the kids when tubing. I wouldn't want to have that type of later pull on the hoist ring or the tower...

your 206 lifting ring is just that, could *probably* get by pulling a single, wouldn't risk it on a bigger 3 person tube. Use the center pylon, I've used the tower before, but it puts ALOT of load everywhere on the tower, deck interface, etc...
Later boats have a "tow ring" on the transom, but most of these are vdrive boats and the tow ring is tied into a more substantial structure...

I pull toobs from the tower of my 206. For the kids I pull, the load seems to be considerably less than a heavy wakeboarder edging hard. IMO.

If you watch some of the Nautique demo videos on the CC site, they show toobs being pulled by the tower.

                        Ski Pylon.

I don't see what the problem is with tubing. We all know it's fun and it'd much rather pull the 3 person tube out when we're 9on the boat than give everyone a lesson on how to surf... But that's just me. I'm 27 and I love to wakesurf... But there's nothing like seeing your friends laughing on a tube.

Nothing wrong with tubing as long as the driver is aware of others and takes it to the middle so it doesn't tear up the sweet water.

Yes.. Yes.. I always forget about the whole super smooth lake etiquette, we are on the river so even if you make 3ft rollers they won't be noticed.. We do have a few butter spots, nobody tubes there (except for the 500ft cargo ships.. Lol)

There is one guy on our lake with an 88 2001, He tows his kids(young kids)tubing from the ski pylon but runs the tube rope through the rear eyelet so people can set in the rear of the boat with out chopping heads. He doesn't do alot of swinging the tubes just towing. I thought it was a good idea. Isn't the lift ring on a 206 oriented with the open ends to port and starboard? The 2001 lift ring are oriented bow to stern so that may make it a bit easier.

I dislike tubers that have no lake manners. If it's just to rough out to do anything else we break out the good old open center round tubes and barefoot suits. Well I'm sure you see where this is going with barefoot suits . My dad went out and bought new tubes but none of us are allowed to ride them. We usually pick up the 40-50 buck open center round tubes and they last a season or two before we have stretched out the exterior to much to retain the tube inside. We average 35-40 mph tube speeds and do NOT let go hence the barefoot suits haha. If I'im driving and you aren't doing cartwheels upon exit you aren't having enough fun!!!

What really burns me up is a wake boat with tubes behind it at 8:30am on glass when we are trying to foot or slalom Gurr...... I don't mind big waves in the morning if someone is putting on a show but 90 percent of the time we have better boarders on the lake behind my 86' than anyone else on the water.

Anyways, tubing is our last resort.
