XR550 g23

Has anyone had a chance to demo the new xr550hp motor in the g23? I was able to switch to this motor for a lot less than the xs550 so I went ahead and upgraded. It put my boat build back a few weeks but I am hoping it will be worth it !! May cant come soon enough !!

I have not heard anything about this motor yet either, I thought it was a typo until I got the second line of your post. Is it a naturally aspirated 550 HP motor?

To be 100% honest ... I have no clue ! I was hoping to get some info from the forum. I do know it doesn't have the headers on it like the xs, its different color, but other than that im not sure. It was a last min thing and it was a lot less than the xs so I figured I would just go with it. Ill try to get some more info from the dealer today but my salesman wasn't even sure. I'm wondering if it is something new for 2014 and I just happen to be in the right place at the right time to hear about it.

What I can tell, it just does not have the bling, that the xs550 has.

What was the $ amount of the up charge? I've heard to go from the 450 to the 550 is around $10K??

It's not listed on the PCM website either. It would be a more appealing upgrade if its significantly less than the XS.

No mention of it on the PCM website. I can't see it being the same HP and not having tubular headers though. Cast manifolds will impact the HP numbers. Will be interesting the see pricing difference though to see if it is really an "economical" engine upgrade.

I checked the PCM website and nothing. However if you go to Nautiques site and build a boat you can now select between the XR550 and XS550. The XS I always thought was for supercharged, so the XR then is naturally aspirated?

I have the XS550 in my G23 and it is unreal. I live in Alberta, Canada and because the elevation here is a lot higher I have heard with just the 450 in the G23 it takes about 1 minute to get to plane with full ballast, where as the supercharged engine in my boat is not as sensitive to the low air density and has no trouble getting on plane!

I would like more info about this new engine model tho ....

Ok I just got the run down. Its the same exact engine as the xs just with out all the bling as robertsmcfarland said. It still has the supercharger, but it doesn't look as good to the eye. (chrome and color) I guess it has become an option because people buying the g25 were not wanting or willing to pay the 10k for xs motor, but since the g25 performs better with that motor they needed a more cost effective way. So I guess people were backing out of the g25 because of the cost to upgrade to the motor needed for that boat, so they made the engine cheaper without taking away from the performance !

Its less than half of the price of the XS !! Very appealing to me !

so the xs, is a 12,219 up grade from a 450 so the xr would be 6109, that would be nice, 6109 for bling is a lot of bling!!!
