Does anyone have experience plasti-dipping their vents? or any gel coat for that matter? I want my vents matte black. It's either plast dip, wrap them, or paint them. I think the plasti dip might be the easiest.
I'm planning on plasti-dipping my tower speakers. They're stainless steel and are all pitted and look like crap. Plasti-dipping blaze orange. I'll make a post on how it turns out.

Hey Rick, I had checked that out, but no where does anyone go after their gel coat. I'm sure it will be fine (So sure that I already taped off my vents and bought some dip) but i just wanted to be overly cautious and see if there is anyone with experience on gel coat. Some creative ideas on there for sure though.

good part is - no like peel off
my 16 yr old son plasti'd his wheels, mirror covers and taillights on his ride - loved it for 3 months now naked again.... quick change for very low dollars.
they do offer a primer now they claim will assist with durability/longevity on polished surfaces
I'm on my third coat as of this morning. I'm very happy with the color, but I do have a few take-aways so far:
-Do a lite coat for coat #1, it won't look like it is totally covered but I think that since gel is so slippery it runs easier. My first coat was too thick and I had a few sags/runs. I was kinda ok with this since one run snuck under my masking and just as advertised I peeled it off this morning perfectly!!! Super stoaked about that. And I guess it answered my question from the original post.
-Someone in another forum suggested keeping the can in warm water while you aren't working with it. I think I would suggest that as well, on coat #2 I got some pitting and "texture". I am hoping the third coat I just applied will take that out.
-Migs, Its looking like one can per vent will get it done well.
I will post a write up about it with pictures here in the next few days. Have a great one!
Been looking around and that is some pretty interesting stuff. Think I saw some guys using it on lower quarter panels of nice drag cars to keep the rubber off.
