I just replaced one of those vents on my 230 with a new one. Talk about a pain to get off and back on. Quite more effort than I figured it would be.

My wife has a mini cooper that would look great with black rims.... ummm. When you spray, you just spray on tires as well and then peel off or do you have to tape that too. i know there's a video somewhere of a guy doing a whole car including rims and the prep work is amazingly light.

dip your car.com, everything you ever wanted to know about spraying that stuff and they sell a lot of things your not going to find at the store. It's cool to be able to paint stuff and see if you like it and easily change it if it doesn't work.

Looks really good. I bet mine would look really good if the vents were red. Hmmmm...

The only thing I'd be worried about is the cover rubbing on the vents and rubbing off the plasti-dip.

The key of course would be making the reds match.

everything i've seen is this stuff is super durable. I wouldnt worry about the rubbing, but you would have to go to dip your car and get their color match kit and a sprayer to do it right i would imagine.

Might be even better in white vs red and probably easier to match.

Looks great. Might just paint the small ones (next to the windshield) on my 02

I would leave your's the way they are. The chrome grill inside the vent makes the black look really nice IMHO.

Looks cool, what do you do to prep? Obviously you don't sand or anything but do you have to remove wax or anything?

I just pulled the vents washed them with Dawn and water. dried them, and got to painting (After I taped off the chrome parts) super simple prep.
