    G23 Line Length and Speed

I know speed and line length is all relative, however, I would love to hear what people are running and how it compared to their previous boat. I know alot of us G23 owners came from a 230.

I have only taken one very cold set behind mine since I have been putting hours on it to break it in. I also only ran half ballast for this first set.

    My observation:
I tried running a little slower since the G has a ridiculously clean wake at lower speeds than my 230. I started running 22mph, half ballast at 70ft. I took my normal cut and cased the other wake. Not way short, but short enough that I made a change. I then went to 22.5 and 65mph and cleared perfectly with my normal 230 routine wake to wake cut.

I used to ride by 230 at 23mph and 70ft. It seem the wake is probably a little wider however next time out, I will try 23mph at 70ft and my normal cut to see what happens. It isn't a matter of me not being able to clear at 70 or 75, it just might take a little adjustment to what my muscle memory is telling me for just a wake to wake jump. It could also be way different once I load up the complete ballast.

Kind of curious what others observations are and what adjustments they made.

I saw J.B. Oneill post on Wakeworld that the Backyard crew were mostly riding at 75' at 23 mph. That is with 2600 lbs of extra ballast and people on board. That boat (I presume it is Mike Dowdy's boat) has the 550.

Iron32J has some threads on here where he really goes into excellent detail on propellers, ballast and line lengths and speeds.

65 MPH!?!?! Did you opt for the XS 850 or twin screw XS 550's, jk. Sorry I couldn't resist.

I have not been behind a G yet but 70 ft and 23 MPH sounds like the right ballpark especially for early season. I am sure as you get back into riding shape and used to the wake you will probably want to let the line out some more.

I'm jelous of you guys getting your boats wet already. I'm scoping out the ramp tonight and may drop mine in for a ride this weekend but water is probably barely over 40 since the ice just melted last week.
