Side cover?

I was wondering if anyone has the same issue and came up with a creative solution.
My boat sits on a boat lift, with West sun exposure. I am concerned that over time, my 2010 210 SANTE starboard color will start fading.
Obviously I could invest in one of those whole boat curtain systems, but they are pretty expensive. Right now I have the Nautique standard boat cover, which works fine.
I was thinking of maybe adding some type of cover that extended on the side of the boat. I guess it would need to be secured at the bottom as well, so that it doesn't flap with the wind.
Any solutions you can think of?

Have a canvas shop make you a curtain that attaches with snaps or velcro to your existing cover.. sew some small sandbags into the bottom so it hangs and doesn't flap.

I know several guys who have side skirts on their lifts to protect from sun damage. Sunbrella would be ideal, but probably overkill and its pretty pricey. We're going to try these this year on a lift or 2:

I am open to new fabric ideas, right now I use vinyl tablecloth fabric, It is easy to handle but a couple of areas cracked after about 3 years and had to be patched. I am looking to replace the entire skirt.

JoAn Fabrics has tablecloth vinyl it in about a dozen colors in the stores but not online. Fabric has flannel type backing and costs about $10/yd but they have 40% & 50% coupons all the time. Weight is about 9 oz per yard and hangs just fine in the wind w/o any weighting.

My used boat came with male boat cover snaps screwed into the underside of the rub rail. The fabric is 54" wide on the roll, I cut it in half, fold a 1 inch seam at the top and fix female DOT snaps on the double thick fabric. Snaps are 2-3 ft apart. Snap side curtains onto the rubrail. No sewing required on the edges since fabric does not fray. Cut some notches out at stern to slip around swim platform brackets

Nice thing about independent curtain is that I can have it on without the cover. Good for working on boat or letting boat dry.

Skirt is in 2 pieces, One East and One West. They overlap a couple of feet at each end
