1999 SAN Ebgine Hatch Switch Upgrade

The last couple of threads on my engine hatch switch on my 1999 SAN were stripped and the switch kept falling through the hole and falling behind the gunnel so I looked into upgrading to something better. I never really liked that tiny little switch anyway and wanted something that more closely matched my new ballast switches that I recently installed. I found a Carling engine hatch switch on eBay and picked up another mounting panel from Wakemakers that matched those that I used for the ballast switches. The new switch was a little bigger than the ballast switches, so the mounting panel required a little cutting, but overall, I am pleased with the result. And best of all...the switch now stays firmly in place.

Nice upgrade! I might have to copy that if my switch starts to strip out or if I get tired of looking at the little switch. Is it a momentary switch that releases back to neutral after you move your finger?

On another note, you might want to order a new lanyard next time you order from White Lakes or N3. Mine was faded similar to yours at the beginning of last season and then all of sudden the plastic distorted and it stopped pushing the button in hard enough causing the fuel pumps to lose power. A little duct tape kept me on the water that day and I have since heard that a coin between the lanyard and button will do the temporary trick as well.
