While shopping for a new boat last year to replace my 1999 Mariah Z202, I read all of the hype about the nautiques. I purchased a 2004 Super Air Nautique, Team Edition. Boy did I make a mistake. The boat is almost one year old, and has spent a lot of time in the shop already. The boat died on me again this past weekend. Now I have to tow it for an hour to the boat ramp, fight o get it on the trailer, and drive almost two hours to take it back to the shop again. I spent a lot of money for the reported quality and reliability of the nautiqe. Knowing what I know now, I will not make that mistake again.

really sorry to hear that...sounds like you got stuck with a lemon..
i have a 2005 211 and have 95 hours on it with nothing but regular maintance and a couple small warranty things that the shop took care of..
btw, you might want to check into the lemon law or asking for a replacement boat if it is the same old problem (3 strikes---your out) correct craft is pretty good about that..

That sucks.
I've got a 1995 SS with 517 hours. All I've done is the maintenance on it. No problems.

rechevarria could you detail what the shop found and repaired, as it might help others.
My friends '04 226 TEAM EDITION has been in the shop several times for overheating. Turns out, the fix was relocating the water filter.... Yellow_Flash_Colorz: . So in that case it would probably apply to many of that buid date.

That is a shame, but it does happen with every manufacturer, and the biggest thing is how they handle it and make you happy again. Take it back to the dealer and call Correct Craft directly, give them the name of your dealer and explain to them the problems and then ask them how they intend to rectify the situation.
Did you get screwed?? Probably not, but you need to find out why the dealer/service guys are unable to make your boat run perfectly, and you need to call CC and give them full details. Get them involved as soon as possible!!
The Nautique quality thing is not a joke and it's unfortunate that you are having problems. If you explained the issues, some people on here might be able to help you out or have had similar issues and know the solutions.

Rechevarria my family has a 1966 Correct Craft Skylark ski boat. Other than the transmission going on us once, weโve only ever had to do the normal maintenance to it. Almost 40 years old and it still fires up and roars across the lake.
Definitely take the members of Planetnautiqueโs advice and contact Correct Craft's home office and get them involved in fixing your boat.
Also, as they suggest, post the issues youโve experienced here on planetnautique. Someone here may have had the same or a similar issue and could offer some guidance on getting the problem repaired.
Best of luck and keep us posted.

The thing to keep in mind is the problem is not the boat itself, but a part that is bolted to the boat that was not manufactured by correct craft. The craftsmanship is second to none, but like every boat manufacturer, they are at the mercy of the vendors that supply them with engines, gauges, electronics. You probably have a problem with the ecu somewhere that when fixed will relieve you of your frustration. If the dealer is unable to find the problem, by all means get with the factory. I mean after all even Mercedes and BMW have a service dept.

Wow, first post and no real description of the problem (other than it died again) and slamming the company that built it.
Sorry that you hate the boat so much, let us know what WE can do to HELP you.
If you need to vent, fine, but keep in mind most of us love our Nautiques, short comings and all.

boat issues
could you explain to the forum what happened to you on the lake? overheat, limpmode? what caused your anguish? I am sure someone on the board has had it happened to them and knows the answer for the fix, or what the shop did to fix the problem. Some dealers who carry more than one brand of boats will not have the knowledge of a correct craft service dept. So let us in on the problems your having, so maybe others can avoid them altogether.

Thanks for all of the helpful suggestions. I greatly appreciate the help. My intent was to share my experience as a new nautique owner. Unfortunately, my experience was a negative one. While I did anticipate some "bugs" in a new boat (example - the subwoofer quit after about three months), I did not anticipate loosing use of the boat. Here is a synopsis of my issues:
-End of last season, keypad worked intermittently. Took a couple rounds of entry to get engine to start.
-Took boat to dealer for service/winerize/detail. Dealer said the ECM was bad and replaced. I also had a heater installed (smart move).
-After about five months, I got boat out of shop.
-Put boat in the water, engine ran very rough. Put in boatlift and assumed problem was related to first trip of year.
-Next weekend, boat started fine and ran OK. AFter about 20 minutes, engine stalled and the hour meter reset to "0". After stalling, the engine ran fine again. After about another 15-20 minutes, same thing happened.
Put boat in lift.
-Started boat to take out of lake and take to dealer. After getting about 300 yards from boatlift, boat died and has not started since. The boat died in a way that resembled an engine running out of gas. However, there is plenty of fuel in tank.
-Now I have to use my SeaDoo RXP to tow boat many miles to boat ramp to try to get boat out of lake. (Fortunately the RXP has 215 horsepower.)
Anyhow, this is my frustrating experience. I do appreciate all of the helpful suggestions and will get CC involved.

rechevarria, keep the faith, so to speak. Call CC and give them at least the detail you posted above. I've found them very very responsive. Ask for Jeff Warner. I'd also call PCM and talk to Mark Synder. He's a smart guy and knows about all there is to know. Finally, call Vince at Skidim.com. These guys are amazing as well. You'll get it sorted out and start enjoying the boat.

I'll start with my two cents on your problems. First, sounds like you might have a bad keypad. I'd get this replaced. Are you sure the dealer replaced the ECM? Second, you might have a bad fuel pump--which I would assume can intermittently fail. Third, check your kill switch lanyard and make sure it is not coming loose. I had mine come lose and it acted like it was out of gas.
Whatever your problem is, it sounds like it started in the Fall of last year and never really got fixed. So, you may not be experiencing multiple problems that would make anyone question the quality of the item, but rather one problem that your dealer failed to address. Good luck and keep us posted.

Did you get your dealer to Summerize this spring? Did they not water test it...or at least run the engine to test? I would have thought that they would have run into problems....maybe they didn't run it long enough.88 Ski Nautique

It's a good thing we are all safe, now that the gov. has required the kill switch  Maybe we should take a poll on how many drivers have ever even used the lanyard.\'01 Sporty Air Nautique
