    Trailer Question.. 1998 Air Nautique

Been looking for 5 months for the right boat in my price range. Found a 1998 Air Nautique, problem is the owner sold the trailer years ago and I have to have a trailer. Question is will any DD/V-Drive trailer work for this boat?? As long as the length is close. I have found some MC and Moomba trailers online for sale that I would have to get shipped to me. If not which ones will work?

    Thanks
    Matt

A V-drive trailer will have the axel(s) further back than they would be on a direct drive in order to support the location of the engine. So no you would really want a direct drive trailer that was designed for your engine configuration. Some trailers that were manufactured for other direct drive boats may work if they are about the same length, weight boat and hull shape. If the trailers you are looking at have adjustable bunks and bow stops that might help you dial it in but really the only way to know is to try it but that would stink to have a trailer shipped out to you have it not work. Maybe you can get in touch with the trailer manufacturer and give them the serial number of the trailer you are looking at and ask them if they think it would fit.

I am not sure when the 216 replaced the Sport/Air Nautique but I think it was 2003. I think a 1993-2002 trailer for either an Air Nautique or Sport Nautique would be an exact fit for you but I am not 100% sure on the years. Good luck and I hope you find something that works out for you.

A lot of the ski/196/206 trailers are adjustable to fit the 196/206/216 and would probably work for you. My ramlin trailer that came with my 99' sport looked exactly like the one that was under my 99' ski. I'd think any of the wishbone trailers for a dd would probably work.

Thanks guys that helps. Called the local dealer and they wanted $4500 for a new boat mate trailer. Found a few used online for around $2k.
