Ballast for port side on a 2011 230

Ok, installed my new 650 integrated sac on the bow of my 2011 230. Now I am running a 1100 sac in rear port locker and the 650 in the front. I have a 540 big bag under the seats in the rear side port seats, but it is having trouble getting filled to capacity. Spoke with Spencer at wakemakers and he is telling me of the 370 for this underseat location. Do any of you run this configuration? Are you splitting off of the fill to the 1100 or just manually filling it? Going to use the 540 in the pathway between the consoles and it will have to be filled manually and really don't want to have to fill 2 bags manually if I can get away with splitting off the 1100 fill. What are your thoughts and processes?

On the under seat sac, what is the dimension from the floor in that area to the underside of the seat? I think the 370 sac is 10" high and is what I used for an under seat application (not on a 230, and not on my current 210, either). To see if it would work plumbed in, have a look at where that bag would sit relative to the overflow vent thru hull, because when loaded for surfing, with the stern sunk down low, the sac might drain out if the sac is higher that the thru hull. . .unless you use some valves. I was manually filling this, but then ran a fill line but saw it drain out due to the sac being higher than the thru hull on the stern.

unfortunately, I don't have access to my boat being that it is at the storage facility. Was hoping someone that has this setup currently could tell me how they hooked it up and if it worked. Thanks for your reply though. It did offer some things to think about before attempting this connection.

You could pull the hard tank and put in an Enzo sac and run only one bag. I did this with my 210 but haven't been out yet.

MS, yeah I am waiting to see the wave that sac puts out. Unfortunately, there is a partition preventing me from putting the enzo in my 230.

I have done this configuration. I used the 3 valve system from wakemakers. I have my back 1100 on one and my side 400 on the other.

For the vent I used check valve on both sides, used a "t" fitting to vent both tanks. I was in the water with it today and it works great.

gopop, the wave is very nice and clean, but it didn't really extend the wave out like I expected though. I ended up pulling the 540 out from under the port seats and moved it up into the midship to try and extend the wave. I also got a 750 sack that I put on the floor on the port side. Wave got worse according to the riders. Then I moved the 540 onto the rear seats on the port side and that was just what it needed. So, to recap, I had an 1100 in the rear port locker, a 750 on the floor, a 540 on the rear seats port side, belly tank full, along with the piggyback 650 sac in the front. Wave was probably 4' with plenty of push running around 10.5-11 mph. I found that with the heavier weight in the boat, I had to increase the speed to keep the wave going. If I slowed down any under 10 I would lose it. Still going to play around with it next weekend to try and see what some other configurations will do. I will keep you posted.

I'm also wondering about ballast for a 230. I am a newbie for wakesurfing so Im not looking for a monster wave just something decent. Will factory with a 400 in the trunk be enough?

Perry, The 400 would give you a better wave than what factory would, but it would only be good for a short while. Once you get better at riding you will want bigger. I would consider going with a piggyback 750 on top of the factory tank and go from there.

Perry, no the factory will be tough unless you have a lot of people. My first season with the 230 for playing I put a 750 on top of the factory and a 750 on the passenger seat. Since then I removed my hard tank with a 1100 and a 400 under the passenger seat all tubed in. I then added the integrated to the bow. I am now going to put another 400 pounds of lead in the bow to get the push. From my learning/playing/seeing more bow weight gives you the push not the height. The back weight will give you the height you are looking for. I am riding between 10.6-11.4 depending now many people are in the boat.

Alright thanks, the 400 IS piggybacked on the factory tank (and i think the factory tank is 250). So that's 650 in the rear plus I would run the facotry "belly" tank (which I think is about 500). I do have a 650 integrated bow sac that I could run. Would this help or would it put too much weight in the front?
