    Picking up new boat checklist

Looks like our boat has been delivered and is in the final assembly at the dealers. They are going to wet test it and call us to pick up. At 2013 SANTE 210. This is our first new boat purchase and our first inboard, any suggestions on what to go over and look for? Is there a checklist or anything?

    TIA

You will get some more serious advice on this, but you bought the best and shouldnt have to worry esp. since they will be water testing it. I always keep an eye on my temp guage esp. at the beginning of a season.

break her in properly. thats all you should be worried about for the first outing.
make sure everything works. go through all the important things like - perfect pass, ballast pumps, lights, blower, bilge, etc....

Yes be sure to read and follow the proper break-in procedures, it is well worth the piece of mind and your motor should return the favor with many trouble free hours.

I highly doubt you have anything to worry about but take a slow walk around the boat to look for any imperfections or blemishes in the gel coat. I am sure they went over it before it left the factory but your boat traveled a good distance to Canada and was likely shrink wrapped so there is a very slim chance of some blemishes caused by the shrink wrap material rubbing against the gel coat. Extremely doubtful but it happened to my parents Sport way back in 91.

If you will be picking it up from the dealer make sure your tow vehicle has the proper hitch and wiring harness.

Your build pictures looked awesome, I can't wait to see it all set up out on the water. Congratulations!

We got are G 3 weeks ago and have already put 35 hours on it which I would say is a lot for 3 weeks. A massive thing I would check is the hose clamps on the engine on all the hoses periodically through out the first week or two you have it. We have had I think 5 hose clamps break or come loose leaking saltwater and coolant. Like Scott said watch your temperature gauge to and check the gel coat. Our G had a little spot on it where the gel didn't apply right that the dealer spotted and they fixed it. Our engine hatch also wasn't closing flush with the side area so they fixed that too. Also I would just watch for a excess amount of raw water in the bilge. Our drive shaft packing was leaking so we had a ton of water coming in and our bilge was running every ten minutes for a minute straight. I saw your build pictures a while back and it is a great looking boat and you will really enjoy that NSS.

Make sure the dealer shows you ALL the through hull fittings, what they serve and locations for the shut off a valve if needed. During an emergency is not the time to start looking for them.

My Sport 200, like most new boats, had quite a few metal shavings in the bilge from the construction process. No big deal to vacuum them out or slosh some water in th bilge and pull the plug to drain it (out of the water of course). A couple of those shavings could potentially kill your bilge pump and its best to just get them cleaned out.

Add speakers to the list. Check to see if all the speakers are working. I had two speaker that were just not plugged in.

First with the warranty you are getting, I would worry more about the cosmetic issues surrounding the hull and interior that they could argue would have been caused after the delivery. Second, I agree with others, you don't want any leaks.

Are you close to the dealer?

I think I'm close with the dealer. I have been visiting with them for 2 years so they have put up with me for a long time. Plus the owner lives around the corner from me so they can't get too far

                          Ok,

                          1. Oar
                          2. Air horn
3.that special orange square floating thing (don't remember what it's called but its mandatory in most states)
                          4. Knife
                          5. Anchor and rope

My first outing on my 2012 sante I had a wiring issue. Thank goodness I had help so the oar would have been nice. Last summer the rope got wrapped up in the prop shaft. I wish I had a knife at that time.

                          Hope that helps

Here's a good thread about a tool kit for boats. I've already used mine 3-4 times.

Thanks, the toolkit info is helpful. I am really looking at anything I should look for when picking up the boat from the dealer.
