This is a pic of my boat on my lift last summer. It is a Vibo lift with solid aluminum bunks. The prob is the bunks do not twist to conform to the flat hull in rear of boat and vhull in front. I know I need to move the bunks wider but that will still mean either the front of back is sitter on an edge of bunk since they dont' twist. I've tried leaving them loose to see if the boat weight will twist them but it didn't work. My question is should I use a carpeted treated 2x6 as a bunk since that will twist to fit the hull. The thing I'm worried about is the hull comes in contact with the bunk about 18 inches in front of the front cross beam and i'm afraid this may break the 2x6 at this point. I also thought about an 18 inch carpeted 2x6 on each arm but the front of the hull does fit those as well un less I shim them out somehow.
    What are other people using?
Should I be concerned about the setup the current way?
    Thanks

I think that's why most bunks are left somewhat loose so they can bend as needed to comform to the shape of dofferent hulls. My hydro hoist uses 2X6's that are angled but are also loose. It would be fairly easy to modify yours either yourself or maybe the manufacturer offers different set ups. It it was mine, I would make it fit better just for peace of mind.

The vertical members (going from cross member to bunk) that are angled inward should be angled outward. Looking at the front view, the left side should be at 6-7 O'Clock, not 5 O'Clock it's current location, opposite for the other side.

I know what your saying but the bunks can change angles from the vertical members coming from the cross bars. My problem is how do I get a boat with a flat hull in back and angled hull in front to sit on a bunk that does not twist from front to back.

In my opinion - you are over thinking it. I too have a lift and from the pictures you posted I would spread out the bunks to where they were previously mounted - in that position there will be less of a difference from the flat to curve on the bow and it wont hurt the hull at all.

No need to bend your bunks to achieve a perfect fit - just get them out further and be done with it.

I have to do the same with mine since I just went from a vintage 1978 Southwind which as a deep V hull where the bunks were ok to be mounted closer in wherre as now with my 2008 Ski Nautique 206 it is flat in the stearn and curved near the bow. I am going to move my bunks out and the weight of the boat will flatten the hinged bunks in the rear and bow area will match perfectly but good enough to keep her our of the water!

Good luck - post some pics when you get her set up and I will do the same - will be a couple weeks for me though!
          Thanks!

          Dave

Thanks I will try that and see how it looks. I'm a couple of weeks out too. Ice just came off lakes here in MN, but we are suppose to get 5-9 inches of snow today...

I would definitely get those bunk supports at a different angle. There is a lot of stress on the mounting hardware in the current set up.. imo
